On asking for bricks

Post by xhado123 » Tue Apr 10, 2018 11:38 am

So has anybody just... asked for people to give them bricks?

How'd it go?

Most of my kollection is from fifteen years ago when I was a kid and just raided the FBI for custody again.

I'm trying this now actually, I'm in college and one of my friends has his old Lego that he never uses, I'll let you know if he cracks.

If I need a particular brick, I'll usually just buy it on Bricklink or purchase a set that has it.

I’ve done this twice with success! Once was a kid across the street that wasn’t able to sell all their Lego at a garage sale so they gave me the rest (got a lot of classic pieces from that). The second was less of an ask and more of a trade. I traded my meager magic collection to a friend for his Lego collection since both of us lost interest in the things we traded away respectively. Value wise, I think he got the shorter end of the stick.

Magic as in MTG, right? MTG can be a really expensive hobby, so if he got cards that he could use in his decks that's one card less to buy online, so it really depends on the value of the stuff you gave him.

It's official. We have to burn Omega at the stake now for suggesting that bits of rectangular nerd crack could out-value Lego.

I think my MTG collection is valued at around 0.5-1k, legos closer to 3k.
And then, of course, I've recently been getting into the other kind of plastic crack.

I probably traded about $200 worth of cards for $350 worth of Lego. I’m sure my cards have gone down in value too with reprints. I had maybe 6 decently playable decks and the rest were just randoms in card boxes.
