Baseplates and cliffs...

I have a LOT of baseplates.
See? I actually have a lot more than this - I could (if I REALLY wanted to annoy my wife
) cover about half the floor of that room in city road plates, for example. I don't use those often though as I'm more into Castle/Pirate/general Fantasy themes these days. Hence all the blue and green baseplates shown in this picture. I have MORE green ones, but I need to obtain more blue ones. Some of the ones in the pic are actually tile plates from the last Pirate Chess Set.
But think about those pictures - different viewing angles of the same table layout. Looks kind of like a big river, doesn't it? Or maybe a chunk of offshore island with water in between.
And what have we here? Why, that looks like someone (me) took a crapload of those old 1x5 castle wall pieces and tried to make a kind of cliff wall out of them! Whatever could that be for?
