CF-105 AVRO AERO

In the late 40's early 50's the cold war was at it's most tense. no one knew the future. the threat to the Untited States was great. one of the primary concerns was that russian bombers could fly over the north pole and canada and attack the united states from the top. in response to this the Canadians began the CF-105 AVRO AERO project. the project was seeing INCREDIBLE! success, however the price tag began to sky rocket. the american buyers droped out. the avro aero was canceled, and ANHILATED. the only remains of the six planes are the front section found in a scrap heap. the utter destruction lead to many conspiracy theories however the reason it was destroyed is simply because it incorperated systems and performance capabillities that exceed some modern fighters! The plane has become a symbol of canadian nationality especially since it's lead desighners went to work for NASA and helped land a few men on the moon.

Have you ever seen that mini series about the avro?

John Deifenbacker gave into the american president at that time to back and Anti balistick missile system (I thinks it is known as the patriot missile system, or it might have lead to the patriot) The americans where developing thier own jet fighter that did not perform as wel as the Avro so in order to get the contracts for various nato countries and to appease general dynamics the president put pressure on jhonnny boy to scap the project. Something about shhoting down bombers over Candain cities

The engine was then sold to the americans and went into the f15 eagle the airframe went to the french (earl mirage jets) and Canada got a bunch of #$%#$%#$% cf-18s,.......woo,.......hooo i think we would be better of with mig 29's or the su-27's

Thought for the day, in order to reduce icbm proliferation the americans and the russians agreed to only employ 1 AMS per country vs ICBMs,,... the russian one protects moscow the american one protects a missile base in the arizona desert ......................????
