M113 - Mark III

Post by Moose » Sun May 17, 2009 4:03 pm

After three stages of evolution the M113 doesn't resemble the M113 very much, but I've decided to leave the name. Enjoy.

The first and last tanks are almost identical. Color difference is about it.

And the only difference on the firefly is that gun.

actually the turret is a complete overhaul.

the jumbo sherman was actually made by isreal from brocken tanks. no one wanted to help them so they helped themselves, and did a good job too!

The Israelis did a number on the sherman, and even bumped it up a class from medium tank to heavy tank. They fixed a lot of the interior welding and made it way sturdier.

Regardless, it's still very clearly a sherman. Now the evolution of the WWII Panzer line is a completely different story.

Dude, it's awesome. We want stats.

I'm impressed with the way this MOC evolved from something that was... not exactly bad, but not very unique or distinctive either... into this. The black front and side plates make it look really menacing and powerful, and it's definitely something I wouldn't want to run into on a battlefield. Awesome work.

I’m not a big forum poster, this is pretty much my first one, what is the etiquette for double posting a topic on 2 sections? And it’s happening more & more since the Armory section opened up...

If the topic is badass enough you can get away with it.

I'm not sure if this is badass enough though, but having two guys stuck behind an armoured cattle shield on an APC is getting there.

Oh okay, whew! I thought I was going crazy.

It's bad practice and should be avoided.

That's a good question about stats hmmmmmm... and my bad about the double posting I just was curious to see if anyone who doesn't just build for brikwars had some feedback.

WHOA WHOA RED LIGHT THERE.

The M4 "Sherman," The M4 "Firefly," The "Jumbo Sherman" And the SUPER SHERMAN are all in aspects completely different. |
The M4 Sherman, basic sherman.

The M4 Sherman Firefly is a Sherman Chassis with a modified turret fielding a British "17 Pounder" cannon.

The M4A3E2 Jumbo Sherman was a Sherman variant that had thicker front armor and higher penetrating main gun than the Tiger Tank.

Now, the Israeli Tank, or known as the Super Sherman in our terms, or
Sherman M-1, Sherman M-3, Sherman M-4, Sherman M-50, Sherman M-51, Sherman Cummings, or Sherman Continental.

(Full Information:
Sherman (Krupp) - Six early salvaged Shermans had a Krupp 75 mm field gun to replace the original gun destroyed during post-WWII scrapping. Later these tanks were rearmed with 105 mm howitzers M4.
Sherman M-1 - Israeli designation of any Sherman model armed with the 76 mm gun M1.
Super Sherman M-1 - Israeli designation of M4A1(76) fitted with HVSS suspension.
Sherman M-3 (Sherman degem Alef prior to 1956) - Israeli designation of any Sherman model armed with the 75 mm gun M3.
Sherman M-4 (Sherman degem Bet prior to 1956) - Israeli designation of any Sherman model armed with the 105 mm howitzer M4.
Sherman M-50 - Upgraded Sherman with the French CN 75-50 75 mm gun, as used in the French light tank AMX 13, in the "old" turret fitted with a counterweight. Entered service in 1956. Was used in the Suez Crisis (1956), the Six Days War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973). Sometimes colloquially mis-named as Super Sherman.
M-50 Continental - subvariant with Continental R-975 gasoline engine and VVSS suspension. 50 units converted.
M-50 Cummins - subvariant with Cummins diesel engine and HVSS suspension.
Sherman M-51 - Upgraded M4A1 (HVSS) with improved engine and T23 turret modified to fit a shortened variant of the French CN 105 F1 gun with large muzzle brake. Was used in the Six Days War and the Yom Kippur War. Sometimes colloquially referred to as Isherman. About 100 of the remaining tanks of this model were sold to Chile in late 70's, were they received a new engine and transmission in early 90's. All of them were replaced by ex-Dutch Leopard 1V in late 90's )

You EVER confuse the M4 Sherman again like that and I will personally kick all of your asses. Aint no excuse! This tank was the FACE of Allied Armor. NO EXCEPTIONS. They took down the Tigers, they took down the Flak 88s, they took down everything. Yes, it was with numbers, but they were realiable none the less!

*Clarification*

I am not arguing that the Sherman was changed. It was the post earlier calling the Jumbo Sherman the Israeli changed tank. The Jumbo Shermans were not. They were Super Shermans. Also the Lineage is abit off. Its like Comparing a Tiger to a Tiger II. The Jumbo is just an upgraded Sherman. The Firefly and Super Shermans are modifications.
Remember, there are no such thing as Athiests in foxholes. There's also no such things as foxes in foxholes.
