I like your use of the parts. Good arc of fire. The red and blue doesn't bother me, looks like an insignia or something.

This is actually a very classy usage of those joints. I'm only ever against them if they're used by themselves to be arms without any other creative pieces supporting it.

barnicle pieces can be used well, but most of the time i use them for quick throw together mechs that once destroyed stay destroyed.

I think they look good, and i don't think the use of a different piece would make it better
