Those look kinda cool.

However, I'm really thinking this will mostly go on my "no real interest" list (as well as my "the original aqua sets were better" list).

I was totally ready to dismiss this line when I saw it last week until I saw this

Image

Suddenly I discover that the line is secretly referencing the Elder Gods within their Atlantis line, which I approve of greatly.

 I would buy these objects of desire. The Triangle emblem will have Pes like repercussions however. :?

You know, this line seems to have a reasonable number of cheap looking and yet well-built sets, all the minifigs are epicore, and the theme itself seems interesting. Are we going back in time?

The minifigs are the only part of the line that looks remotely interesting to me - and even then, only the tentacle-ey ones. The dive suits are... meh.

I'm going to buy tons of these sets for the minifig accessories. The scuba gear is amazing and the heads of the blue dudes seem to be really neat.

I've been disappointed by everything Lego has been making in their sets besides minifigs for the past year or so. None of the sets have anything really amazing (except for the Battle of Endor and Home One sets) besides the awesome minifigs. I think Lego realizes that's one of the main reasons people buy the sets now, hence the battle packs, impulse sets, and new figures such as these and Mon Calamari and such.

You know, I just thought of something. Or, a couple things.
  • 6. Lego is putting Pirates on hold for 2010.
    7. Lego just signed a big licensing deal with Disney.
    8. In the past, Lego has used homegrown themes to lay independent claim to parts intended for upcoming licensed themes - I'm thinking of the Life On Mars martians used to prep for Star Wars' battle droids, for instance.
Could it be - COULD IT BE - that these new fish creatures are here because Lego's prepping elements for a Pirates of the Caribbean line for the new movie in 2011? They look awfully like a couple of the Flying Dutchman crew.

That's a good idea Stubby. I'm not sure how much I would enjoy that though. I liked the dirty feeling to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and I don't feel like Lego could capture that well enough.

I just don't think I would enjoy a Jack Sparrow minifig much.

Which makes me wonder; Do you think Harrison Ford has tried to collect all of his different minifigs, like all of the Han Solos and all of the Indiana Jones? I know I would if I were him.
