So i have finnaly went and done a SHIP well not actually a ship since the piranha only measures at 93 studs. But its still a huge investment in parts for me and adding an antenna or something just to make it 100 studs long seemed unnecessary and would just seem tacked on UPDATE: the piranha is now 112 studs and that qualifies it to SHIPgrade

these are the engines i was inspired by the engines on the Daedelus from stargate when i built these


this is the main turret it houses a heavy duty railgun


this is the bridge it seats a total of four minifigs and Im very happy with how it turned out



these are the forward firing plasma guns they fire slowmoving plasma balls that are commonly used against ground targets similar to regular rockets


this is the left cargo pod it holds.....


..a little speeder thingy altough the speeder is unarmed there is a energy carbine attached to the side that can be used by the driver



it also holds a pair of binoculars that causes a 1+skill modifier

the guns are from the top to bottom :dual micro smg ,dual heavy plasma guns, anti vehicle laser cannon,rpg with 3 extra mkII rockets

no wonder the minifigs are smiling

it opens to reveal the interior lets start with the cargo room.

this is the cargo room it holds...

crates with food and spare parts for the MPT compliment aswell as other supplies

there is also a tool rack with some tools and a broom .because a clean ship is a healthy ship altough the crew seems to be quite bad at cleaning judging by the dust on the floor.

that leaves us with this mystical cabinet what can there be inside?

oh its the main reactor the two greenish domes are power sources for the engines and the internal systems aswell as for weapons and warpdrive. the clear dome is a powered down backup reactor

now lets take a closer look at the bridge

this is the bridge with the canopy swung back and the crew seated

now the backrow of the bridge is where the weaponry is controlled aswell as were the ship is steered the front row is were the navigator and the radiooperator are seated


this is the section behind the bridge it has a computer

and a coffetable complete with a food dispenser (think the goo from the matrix only tastier)


also the thing you saw with a few dishes over it is a small kitchen were the food from the crates is cooked this will of course makes you wonder were the goo comes from . it comes from the row of domes on top of the cargo room were a geneticly manipulated plant which is highly nutrious and fast growing is grown in a mixture of soil and recycled human waste since the piranha is meant for long term ahead of fleet hit and run attacks against enemy critical installations and ships it needed
6.a large supply of food which is solved by the plants
7.a means of attacking space targets which is the railgun and the plasma cannons
8. a mean of attacking ground target and its here the MPTs come in


the MPTs (multi purpose tripod) are housed in the hangar they are top of the line mini mecha controlled by an extremely advanced robotic brain
now you may think these are unarmed since they don't hold any guns but no the MPTs have inbuilt plasma repeaters in their arms which are similar
to the tachikomas weaponry in this movie (tachikoma=little blue bot)

The MPTs are also equipped with a stealth field similar to the one in the movie as well as mkII jumppacks that allows the m to move with unparalled mobility couple that with the wheel feet and you gothe perfect fast moving sabouter unit

awww can you say no to that face?

here you can see a couple of MPTs that have just disembarked trough the side doors attacking a group of jellies. of course if you think arm guns are too small then there are other alternative

this is the z-45 heavy plasma accelerator gun it is the definition of overkill

this is the AT-65 anti tank rifle it is not as powerful as the Z-45 but less likely to overheat any rumors saying the Z-45 occasionaly explode when overheated are heh......entirely true

now the Piranha has to have a place to store the MPTs does`nt it?
thats what the hangar is for

Update!

i have added a couple of gunturrets on the sides for ship to ship combat these turrets also boosted my SHIP to 112 studs of length YES achievment unlocked! well here are some pics

well here is an overwiew shot i made t a priority to keep the sleek and clean look i think i succeded

this is an interior shot its a little fun you see when i was adding the new section the ship which was at critical mass i guess simply fell apart!
so on the Piranha not only this section is new but i also heavily reinforced the bottom and the top of the ship so now she`s sturdy as a brick! well thats all for now

Make the engines bigger, currently they look too small to get it too go fast.
space is a near-vacume so you need big engines to get thrust.
have less of them but make them large and long, Power miner wheels work well i found.

I like this even more now, always a pleasure getting a ships tour.

altough i might try using pm wheels later if i buy any of those sets

give a sensor array at the front to extened it to SHIP lengh, or a large turret houseing.

I still say move those antennas at the top of the bridge to on top of the hangar section. They look good, but you don't want the railgun shooting them off.

Very nice though! It has everything you need. I especially like all the MPTs because I like uniform armies and those things fit the bill very nicely. The only complaint I have is that some interior sections look kind of like there's a jumbled mess on the floor (the hangar mostly). Try to clean those areas up with some regular plates or something set down if you can, or at least make a pattern on the floor. The bricks just hanging about draw attention.

I love your sense of scale. Most people build a ship that size and call it a main combat ship...you've made a very capable light frigate/troop carrier. I want to see a full sized SHIP of the line from you.

This ship is well thought out, I think frigate doesn't do it justice. 7 studs really doesn't matter.

Agreed, by my own standards at 30" it would be maxed out at Destroyer (DD) Class. But you have exceeded that at 31"+ (31"+ to 45") you have a Light Cruiser (CL) Class. Technically at 93 studs you should be calling this a light Cruiser, however, this is only my own reckoning and not official in any sense. My own ship is presently 54" and I regards it as a Heavy Cruiser (CA) Class ship.

At 48" that would mean Natalya's Venus Destroyer is also a Heavy Cruiser. To my mind that fits well for Brikwars if not reality.

I wish we all used the same convention as it's a bit haphazzard as is.

There's several problems with length scales, like Natalya's destroyer is tall in some sections but tiny in others, my ship is like a sasuage in comparison. I just go by a ships purpose with a rough size idea.

Well obviously purpose should be taken into account, your own ship Dilanski is a Carrier (?) and so at 160 studs (53.3"+) your ship would be a Light Carrier (CVL) class... although it seems quite the hybrid with those big turrets and front guns but I guess that's the same for the Battlestars in (BSG) too.

Freede could maybe call the piranha an Assault Cruiser Light (CL-A) to account for it's purpose?

Carrier? where did you get that? I did put battleship in the title didn't I? Admittedly it does carrier decent quantaties of starfighters, but I was going for a Star destroyer classification, able to control an entire star system (By wookiepedia that is what a star destroyer is).

Do not use star wars as a ship size system!!!!!

Naval destroyers are too small to carry fighters, i think battle ships are normally the smallest to hold fighters.

to me a space ship is vast and 100 studs is the minimum for a frigate smaller than that are patrol ships and support craft.

The piranha is quite wide and tall so even though its a few studs short it would still be a frigate to me.
This is using minifigure hight as a scale wrong since it puts them as smaller than modern frigates.

though thease are for brikwars and reconstructing a 14ft model would be hard.

Yes, the Star Wars class system is very odd and full of just made up stuff, which would be ok but sort of annoying too.

I still think the WWII wet navy class designations work. The USA did used small escort carriers (CVE) in WWII that were little bigger than a Destroyer. They are the smallest however ranging from 21" to 30" length. No idea how many fighters you could get on that though. They'd better be small.
