Question about availability

Post by aoffan23 » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:32 pm

I was looking through the Idny sets, and came across the motorcycle chase set. I immediately wanted it. I mean come on, 2 motorcycles, 2 guns, 2 crates, cool minifig parts and a handful of other useful bits. Perfect add-on set for BrikWars.

So, I checked out the price on the Lego store, and apparently, it's not available in Canada. But my question is, does that mean it's not available at all, or just not through the Lego store? If it's not available at all, somone's gonna get whacked over the head with a frozen chicken.

If anyone who lives in Canada has this set, that would be my best confirmation.

I don't think it's available at all. That set came out 2 years ago or more for one, and two I remember they had a big sale on the website and that set was on sale. Pretty sure they got rid of all of them, sorry. Maybe try a Toys 'R Us; I know they sometimes have sets that aren't being made anymore.

When they were in stores though, I bought a bunch of them. My old army used the German's helmet and Indy's hat.

Ugh  Well thanks anyways guys, I guess I'll check out Toys 'R Us to see if they have any. If not, I'll just spring for a couple of the ambush in Cairo sets. They've got some nice pieces, but no bikes :(

Do you guys think the cemetery battle is worth the $25? It's got A bike, better than nothing I guess, plus some other nice stuff. Hmmmm... :?

$25 Canadian I'm assuming, which would be around $20 US (which is what it is here).

I say it's okay. It's got 4 figs and a skeleton, correct? That's already one fig more than a battle pack which at $10-$12 US. It's got more pieces, a motorcycle, and some pretty awesome other pieces. I don't think it's overpriced, but I don't think I would get it. If I did I would only get one for some of the more unique pieces.

Ideally I'd get 1 motorcycle chase set, and one cemetery battle. That's 3 bikes, makes a perfect squad size, plus it gives me the leather jacket for another fig I've got. I'm heading out to Toys 'R Us this afternoon, so I hope they have one left. There's a Walmart in the mall too, so I'll look there too. Come to think of it, there's a Mastermind across the street from the mall, they might have it :)

tried bricklink?
- I refuse to be stopped by something as irrelevant as logic, the laws of physics, or common sense -

if 20 chickens can fit in a brick, how many pingpongballs does a crocodile have to eat so it can swim faster than a washing machine?

Bricklink is usually my last resort. I like buying sets more because you get more pieces that you might use later, or that are unique/cool. I also like to build the actual set before salvaging it for parts, it adds to the fun.

Anyways, I just checked 2 Walmarts, a Toys 'R Us, and a Mastermind, but no luck. Instead, I ended up getting the cemetery battle set. Damn this thing has some awesome pieces! :D I think the Indy line has had the coolest pieces of any line. You were right OneEye, it was worth the $25.

GUESS WHAT?

I found a store on Bricklink located in Ontario. Awesome! And guess what they have? That's right. I finally found a reasonably located one. (I went to Cookstown outlet mall - the closest all LEGO store I know of, a 40 minute car ride - only to find that they no longer had the store. the FBI and I were both fucking pissed)

Problem is, the store requires a minimum of $20 purchase, and the set's only $15. So I need to decided between 3 possible purchases I chose.

1. The ambush in Cairo set - awesome pieces, more than double the price of the other 2 choices
2. The new pirates mini set with the cannon and breakable wall - pretty cool pieces, but doesn't fit in with any of my other Brikwars stuff
3. 3 green 16x16 baseplates - I could use some extra baseplates, but they're just baseplates. useful but not very fun :?

I'm most likely gonna go for the ambush in Cairo set, I'll have to take a bit out of next month's allowance though. Any advice?
