Anyone use it?
I've built some pretty cool crap with it, but I've yet to upload any of it onto Lego's main site.

i am building a SHIP fleet in that.

I used that for awhile and then I found MLCad and that has a much larger variety in parts and you can make them any color you want (even ones that don't exist in lego) and you can also make your own parts if you know how to (which I don't yet) but its much better than LDD.

I use it for microspace, there's an entire page of downloadable files on the wiki

I have been playing with it to learn how particular combinations would look. But as it is missing some bricks and will not allow some things such as a 45 degree angle, it makes it hard to play with at times.

On the wiki, in the editor, click the File button then upload a LDD file, then insert it, if you use the test page, don't mess up the layout.

Yeah, but you can buy the sets you make in LDD. I think that's a pretty cool feature.

True, but they are quite costly tht way. If you are willing to buy the parts from a source like Bricklinks it ends up costing quite a bit less.

I've been using it a bit lately and have found it rather handy for designing vehicles and such (especially when I don't have all the parts to make them in the real world - yet).

My real gripe is that it doesn't have some parts. A lot of the parts from recent sets (eg. Space Police) are not present, as are a lot of the old parts in my collection (but then these bits aren't available in the Pick-A-Brick store either, so I can assume the old parts are no longer made, and maybe the newer ones will be addded with later updates). Some parts are also not available in all the colours that they are clearly manufactured in (eg. the little angled 1x2 vent pieces are only available in red and yellow, even though i have new examples in my collection that are black, dark grey and green).

Still it is a handy tool for trying bits out and at least everything seems to fit together as it should - even in the non-standard combinations...

It's a little harder to use but LCad is great for digital designs. You can always expand your library by downloading the approriate parts or even create your own. Plus the interface is pretty cool because it displays all the 2d views at once, the XY, XZ, and YZ plane, and a 3d orbital view.
