Ninjago sorta brikwarsy?

Reading some reviews on eurobricks; some people have noted that the card style is rather like the cards used in brickwars and that the drawing style is similar to Mike Rayhawk's.
Just wondering, has anyone else noticed this and is their any connection.
Lego do seem to be weaponiseing in recent years, tanks in various themes and out right guns have appeared in many themes.
it's nice since the weapons make brikwars easyer but at the same time chips alight from it's contrast with the "happy go lucky" world of lego.

The trailer for the new Lego Universe expansion has what sounds like machine gun fire.

Can you please show me where these were a game designed to "slam" the tops together and knock one out of a circle. I had not heard of that before. Thanks.

I'll dig it up a verifiable source later at work, but that is the traditional Japanese way to play tops for ages. You used to use slightly larger ones that have a string that wraps around the handle. You let it rip and try to knock the other guy's top out of the circle in the dirt (like marbles, actually).

Beyblade is sort of a cultural thingy in that respect, revitalizing a traditional pastime and making it more exciting for kids with characters, customizable tops, the rip cord launcher, etc. Someone is currently trying that with fantasy-themed marbles in the US.... but you can only handle so much screen-printing and cards granting you permission to use trick shots you would've anyways.

The scary thing about that megabollocks product is that the system is BETTER than lego's. Lego's you have to spin the tops by the sides, The megashits is motorised.
Though I bet Neither beats BeyBlades for shear awesome launch.
Ripcord is the way to go, it gives more the feeling of "shit just got real, and I caused it!" rather than "yay1111!!11one teh mater spin is"* or "oh, it went for half a second..."

*representation of megabloks user.

Beyblades is the king of spinning tops.
I remember I had one that the plastic top had got chipped away so that the metal weigh (which was nearly as large anyway since I swapped it from a larger one) stuck out, It's base was also quite a short one, So along with it's low centre of gravity for maximum stability it also ripped the others to shreds.
Gee whiz those were the days.

I made tops from technic pins, slizer gears, and also launchers from gearbox parts and a string for a ripcord.

It was fun for a while.

That is so cool. I did not know that. Sort of makes sense then the whole beyblade style. Wish Lordofdragonss had just shared that in his post. Thanks for the info. :D

I'll bet you guys three cookies and an internet that someone's going to invent a launcher system within three months for Ninjago.

I'll also be designing my own cards, thank you very much.

It's possible that he assumed you knew, or didn't know himself, or something. I wouldn't sweat it. Here's something extra cool, though:

The yo-yo's original purpose was a short-range sapping device. It was weighted like a sunuvagun, and a ninja would creep up, THOCK you in the head, and it retracted back into his hand like magic. Makes Star Tropics make a little more sense now, doesn't it?

STAR TROPICS!!!111oneoneone

That was my first Sega Genesis game. Remember how it came with a map and you had to put it in water to see the secret code? Damn man... that was so radical... bust'n shit up with your yo-yos of awesomeness.

I had a Beyblade top forever ago. It's been a while since I've seen it.
I heard that, with enough force, one can make a Beyblade top float on water.

Actually, Startropics was for the NES.
