I saw some awesome landing gear when browsing flickr, so I stole the idea and built the landing gear. But it didn't really work on any of my planes. So I built a new one, it's sole purpose to be a landing gear tester. But when I finished, it looked so awesome I took nice photos of it. Here it is:

Image
The X-55 was designed as a plane that could travel in both atmosphere and vacuum. Hence the name 'Space Plane'.

Image
It uses a powerful combination rocket/jet engine to achieve the high speed necessary for lift, which is gained from the short wings and the shape of the fuselage.

Image
Top view. Silhouetteness.

Image
And now the best part, the landing gear. The forward gear is more complicated. First the hatch opens.

Image
Then the landing gear flips out, and the hatch can close again with the landing gear still out there, resulting in awesomeness.

Image
The rear gear. (Get your rear in gear!) All I had to incorporate here was an indent in the wing for the wheels, because at re-entry speed any protrusions would be ripped off. When the landing gear is activated, these just fold down.

Image
And here it is with the landing gear down. I like this picture.

Welp, that's all, folks! Tune in next time, for. . .

potato.

Thank youz. I do think it is a better racist plane than the last two.

Nice. Kinda reminds me of something out of those old batman films.

Yep, it can fit a minifig quite nicely, with controls to boot. Also, behind the minifig there is an engine compartment with a plasma engine inside.

If i had more battle droid arms, i'd totally start slapping these on everything.

I know, that's what I thought when I saw it. But I'm too lazy to find all the battle-droid arms I own at once.

Beautiful. Probably my favorite of your planes in terms of shape. Are there any special rules, or is it just really, really fast?

It's just really fast. Swooshability is also high.

be carefull when swooshing near walls though.
last time i did that I accidentally smashed it against the wall as fast as I could. It practically exploded.

That reminds me, if anyone here ever builds a large diorama with buildings in it, the most fun part of any of that is punching in the roof of the buildings and smashing all the scientists around inside.

It's nice, but I'm noticing no weapons.

A plane of this degree of ossumness needs no weapons. It's dazzling brilliance as it creates a sonic boom above the battle field with its powerful swooshy powers is enough to immobilize the opponent's army for an entire turn with stunned looks on all their little plastic faces.
