The road is at one perspective and car another.
But I think thats ok because its like the car is popping off the road coming at you.

The Canadian lava field is what looks odd to me.

I think that's owed to the car having a shadow on the road, which looks in-place to the degree you (I) barely notice it.

I really like this one because of how detailed the car is, but I had no idea that was desert.

The car was drawn properly but it got rotated a bit. (This is only the 2nd time I've done a perspective one, so hopefully next time I do better with what I learned this time.) I tried to derive a vanishing point from the driver-side tires and the centre line down the hood of the car, but I made an error and it ended up looking the way it does here.




Looking at this you can see how I ought to have had it set up. Next time I do a car like this I will use photoshop to find the right vanishing point before I transfer it to the wood or whatever I'm going to mosaic the picture onto. I got the shape of the car right, but it's at a pretty bad angle which also screwed up the perspective, because you want the horizon to be horizontal, because that's what horizontal means.

Guys it's almost 2AM and I don't have good pictures, so I will get some tomorrow, but you gotta see this shit:




I'll get better pics when the sun is up. It is about 8¼" x 13" so that makes it about 43% larger than the previous Major Kusanagi mosaic that I made 6 months ago. It also has more pieces and detail as you can see. Maybe in 6 months I will make another one that's bigger and more detailed than this? Who knows. I remember that for the first one I spent the better part of 2 days working on it like non-stop. Well that's how this one went.

Thursday I got the wood and I got some concrete backerboard and I cut them to size and glued them together. That took only like 25 minutes max. Friday I got the belt sander and went at the sides which took less than 5 minutes. I didn't know what I wanted to make, but I had a reference picture of the Major which I thought was kinda cool, so I was like, "Fuck it why not?" It took me about 2 hours to draw the face onto the piece. I traced it first onto a plastic bag and then used the bag to draw it on the piece. That's all I did Friday. Saturday I spent an hour at the glass store figuring out the colours to use. When I got home and spent the entire rest of the day working on it. By the end of the night (like midnight or something dumb) I had the hair completed, had her shoulder done, and I had her eyebrows and eyelashes and the whites of her eyes (but not the irises or pupils) done. Sunday I woke up and went at it. By about 10 PM I had the glass finished and then I grouted it and then painted it and put in some screws with a wire on the back and voila!

I think if I added all the hours up this would be about 18-20. The original one was the same kinda time, maybe a little faster.

I sold Erza and the other one of Major Kusanagi to someone I met at an anime convention a few years ago. But yeah this major needs a buyer. I know someone who might want it but I haven't approached him yet. But if someone here wants her I'm asking $250.
