Gimp Works Wonders!

I had seen that someone mentioned something about using Gimp for image editing, specifically stat cards. It's a really really good program, basically photoshop caliber, and best of all its free. And then just my luck, I had all ready downloaded it a long time ago! So I thought I'd mess around with some of my unit pics. I'm very fond of this artistic render effect. :D

I'm impressed, you managed to make your already awesome army even cooler. For the last picture, did you just draw that cityscape?

Muhaha! Thank you.

Ha, so the effect really worked! It DOES look drawn! I applied the same techniques to the pics of my models. I knew I wanted a cityscape background so I just went to google images and searched through that. After a couple of different tries (post apoc, apoc, halo), I searched Gears of War and wound up with some cool pics.

I see, it's just that it goes so well with the model that I figured you drew it or something else I can't think of right now.

Those are some pretty cool effects. I think that one could have a wider range of options in Photoshop though. However, that's a very effective alternative. Nice work!

true but photoshop has the expensive price slapped onto it, so free Gimp does the trick. :D

True, what I originally wanted to write was "a thrifty and effective alternative" However, I didn't want to make it sound like I think that people on BrikWars are cheap. I mean, look at how much we invest in custom minifigs! That ain't cheap...

Read my new battle report. There's a small discussion about how GIMP is better than Photoshop in one of the many areas where I got sidetracked. Nice pictures, by the way. Dan would kill to be able to do this, however, he's terrible with photoshop and GIMP alike.
