SpaceMarines

Post by Cakeman » Mon Mar 14, 2011 5:08 pm

So, after my last relocation irl all my lego is stuck in a cellar. It was the first thing I packed, hence the first to be unloaded and as you all can tell, therefore stored in a corner now unreacheable because of furniture etc (this apartment i half the size of my planning was very last, and rented furnished. it's a drag... my bad). Because of this I've had to slowly build some new forces. I was planning on some kind of spaceship again but first the Marines of an as of yet unnamed Empire. No it's not a teaser, I've just not thought up something.

Anyway, the Marines are a strikeforce for fast deployment or shipboarding action. It consists of 18 members as of right now.

Image
The old core is 5 marines armed with the RM-19 assault rifles and one supporting marine with an automatic grenadelauncher addon, magazine of 3 grenades and burst-capable. These troops are good against infantry.

Image
Pictured here is a scout sniper in a camoflague-suit, you can tell by the light gray armor wich have limited stealth capabilities. The Baron (the leader of the marines) is looking to recruit some more troops for stealth purposes, a spotter and a communications expert.

Image
This is the Baron himself, in his white commandsuit with enhanced communications gear. All the armor of the marines have mobility enhancment and limited jump capability, this feature is foremost for movement in space so that zero g wont slow down an attack on an enemy ship for example.

Image
These are the assault and CC troops, armed with axes or automatic boarding flechette guns and a lightweight polymer shield. Great for clearing out corridors etc.

Image
A closer look at the boardingguns. Very deadly, they are slow to reload. Veteran marines just drops them and grabs a new weapon from the steaming puddles of blood left in front of the advancing marines when speed is important.

Image
These six troops are armed with the empires own newly developed plasma rifles. Great against heavier targets, they have quickly become a staple also because their reliability. However, they're bulky and not suited for close quarters.

Image
Another view of the plasma rifles.

Image
And lastly a shot of the Baron leading the advance boarding party.

Well, not a new faction yet but one in the making. Just wanted to share these pictures.

I especially like the shields. The scenery is nice, too. You should post a pic of that.

Can you get some photos of the flechette guns and grenade launcher against a lighter background?

Because all of this looks amazingly fantastic and I want to see the details on all this win!

Frickin boss. totally badass, as space marines should be. Yeah, add a tank, a scouting vehicle, a transport, and maybe a dropship or something, a couple more guys, and you've got an amazing army. Sweet figs, hope to see you expand on these guys.

Thanks for the response! As per request, a picture of my setup and a closer one of some weapons.

Image
I've got two lamps as dedicated lighting, the pictures of the figs were taken during evening so could be sharper with added daylight but who's home during the day? ;)

Image
The automatic grenadelauncher and boardinggun. They're basically the same design just added to different sw-guns. All of this is heavily influenced by other pictures found on the net, mainly flickr. Great source of inspiration :)

This is probably the best use yet of the Atlantis helmets. I've been hoping to pick up some of those for a while now.
