[Updated 8/1/11] Delta Flight Pattern - Micro | --{HURT}--

I had a bunch of extra pieces from the Bricklink order. Wheeee!

The whole flight pattern so far, consisting of two Corvettes, 2 Frigates, and a Cruiser. Delta Flight Pattern was designed to take down Capital ships and Dreadnoughts, and thus carries with it an immense amount of firepower.

Here are the two "Gamma"-series Corvettes. Light and fast, these make up the backbone of the Pattern's defenses versus strike craft and smaller threats.

Then come the dual "Manticore"-series Beam Frigates. These Frigates comprise the vast majority of the fleet's firepower (a staggering 65%) with their long-range ioun beam cannons that span the length of the ship itself.

Finally, the largest ship in the Pattern, comes the "Solace"-series Battlecruiser. The ship was designed as a well-rounded vessel, capable of dealing sufficiently with a huge variety of situations. Despite its size and stature, the Solace really fills a support position in the pattern; the Beam Frigates are the key ship.

These are probably my favorite ships of yours to date, especially the beam frigates and the Solace. I love how you used cheese wedges to construct that jagged profile.

Thanks! I bought 2 bags of 100 wedges each (one black, on dark gray). I figured I might as well put some of them to use right away.

I did something like that, a while back. They're almost used up now. They seem to go best with blockier ships, though, and I tend to build for a smoother look.

It's true. The angle they present gives anything done in this scale a much chunkier look than it would normally.

Those are neat little ships. The Manitcores remind me of the Prometheus from Stargate.

Oh! That hadn't even occurred to me, Pwnerade, but now that you mention it... the two ships do share a couple of shape and design elements.

So these have been sitting around for a long time; never bothered to take pictures, since I felt like the big ship was too... lop-sided. It came out oddly, but the design has grown on me over the several months that it's been sitting out.

Speaking of which, before we get to pictures, I apologize for the lint and dust. They have been sitting on my dresser for quite some time.

On to the pics!

Meet what is often referred to as the fiercest of HURT's fleet assets: the "Mountain" class Cruiser (now with 100% more shitty bloom effect. A photographer, I am not).

The "Mountain" and her escort company, a pair of "Spitfire" destroyers and an "Usurper" lance frigate.

The "Spitfire" is part of a long line of simple, yet effective Destroyers, designed for all-purpose combative capabilities. While not terribly impressive by themselves, in high numbers and/or backed up by one of HURT's larger ships, they can be a devastating assault force.

The "Usurper" is one of the first of many potential designs for anti-strike craft frigates. Designed to support larger craft, these frigates excel in blowing swarms of fighters out of the sky with alarming precision. Their added use as cargo and resupply ships makes them an asset found in almost every sizable HURT fleet (wooo, hair!).

Some detail shots of the "Mountain." I'm particularly proud of the rear of the ship, and the asymmetry (that is in some places more obvious than in others).

As always HURT has one of the coolest microspace fleets around.
I like the details on the Mountain but I didn't really get to see much of the ship as a whole, or the asymmetry you mentioned. Maybe a top view pic would help?...
