Are you going to add civilians to the battle? They have lots of uses: meat shield cover, targets when the enemy isn't in range, hilarious death etc

You know it.

@Rebel Trooper Bodies:
I don't have any of those either, except 3 Hoth ones.

This is what I've been working on this week... Civilian vehicles for the battle. Some you have seen before, others are new. The ASE assault car is there for scale. Also notice the news van and chopper at far right.

The local police force got a new ride. This is supposed to be your standard Ford Crown Victoria police car. Unfortunately it only fits one person but that doesn't matter because it looks cool. Lego cars used to be 4 bricks thick, then 5, and nowadays its 6. Nonetheless there isn't really a good mechanism for fitting more passengers because its hard to offset the studs by 1 on each side and even if you did then now you'd need thinner walls than normal which means a higher ceiling on the car or it has to be a convertible with the top down. These design challenges made the car, despite its huge size compared to older Lego cars, only fit one person. Oh well. :[ But even Lego can't figure this problem out either... Look at the big yellow truck in the background. Anyone with that set knows that no one can sit next to the driver.

Also its hard to see it in this picture, but the grille and turn signals on the front of the car are actually at an angle. I'm just pointing that out because I spent a lot of time getting it to do that and I think that my technique there has now been improved.

This is the back of the Crown Vic.

This shows how the roof was made. The car doesn't have doors because I wanted to put the POLICE signs on the sides, but minifigs can pop the roof to get in. It looks like it would end up being an illegal build but the two roof segments fit together perfectly and are held together by the wonderful powers of SNOT.

Anyway that's it for now. Maybe I will make some more 6-wide cars in the future but I need additional road plates more than anything.

Interesting design on the cop car. Trying to make vehicles fitting two minifigs side-by-side is indeed a pain in the ass.

Nice work on the police car, but I like the grey truck next to it too.

I made some changes to the police car. The cabin is now about 1 stud longer and I made the roof nicer. There are now supports up the sides for the roof too.

@White Nun:
I didn't talk about the truck because it is an older creation. Here is its thread:

Nice!

I am right to assume that the headlights conceal missiles, correct? I wouldn't expect any less of you, and I have a feeling the cops are going to be terribly outgunned either way, so with Green Hornet-style firepower, they might be able to actually affect the battle!

The cops can be outnumbered, that won't matter; the ASE will have somewhere around 100 guys on their side.

Oh yes, a definite improvement with the Police car, the proportions are much nicer now.

Thanks for the background on the truck. It caught my eye because it did have a slightly archaic ex-soviet look about it which I really like.

:<3: the new windshield is amazing, the proportions are much better, even with just those minor adjustments, great work!

Thanks for the praise on the Police Car guys.

@Bragallot:
Don't worry I'm going to make more guys for your teams before the battle starts. I still don't have the battlefield ready either. I made a new building though. I should have preview pictures of it up today.

The way you made the windshield/other glass work there is awesome, Natalya. I really like it.
