[SHIP] Falcon Class Heavy Destroyer (awesome sauce)

Post by Skyian Leader » Wed Oct 19, 2011 4:20 pm

edit: Whoo, unintentionally made the 1,000 thread on the Armory section!

Well, back in august, when i was still posting regularly, I had made a few changes to my army composition...
Like building a ship:
First attempt:
I bit off more than I could chew...

(the side folds down!)

(same with the front!)

and then i plated it...

The missile turrets:

The side

the back

a hatch

and then I BROKE IT ALL UP!!!

36" inches long was to big for me

So i went back to the drawing boards, and re-looked at the mini-ship i was basing it off of:

Image

so I started anew!

smaller this time, 24 or so inches...
Image

the parts i had to work with that were grey/bley/black/white.

Image

now all i needed to do is to finish it...[/img]

Sometimes, some MOCs are simply destined not to be. It had no interior, few and small guns and it overall looked kinda weird. But don't worry! This kind of build'n'scrap practice will eventually end up in a creation that gathers all your creativity and building skill, which you'll look down upon it with pride.

By that time you'll know, you achieved awesomeness.

Which, I did in August.

[Inception Noise]
BBBBBOOWWWWAAAAHHHWWWWOOOOO!!!!

Now, secondary weapons and defensive weapons:
like the Mrk 3 Scorpio Rocket Pods and Dual Barrel Miniguns made for intercepting rockets

Image
Image

And now for the main Armourment:
TWO dual mounted MRK TWELVE Beam Cannons!
Image
Image

And how could I forget the defensive weapon, the GAU 7 Avenger (yes i know it has 8 barrels)
Image

And the Front of my ship, taken from a mini fig perspective:

Image

and some pic of the top which still needs decoration, also, the top torpedo turret had been scraped, and a launcher will be built into the front
Image

and as well as this turret, which will be replaced with defensive turrets:

A picture of the back:

the entrance:

This turret was removed:

A anti rocket and anti boarding turret

This view makes it look like a lump, and you can't see the front slope at all...

The side and the top open up:

The inside hasn't even been worked on yet, I suppose i should do that...

And a size comparison shot with a hot rod fighter

Yeah, Lincoln logs!

my other stuff put away

so, that it! Procrastination and Ap classes prevented me from posting earlier. I will probably post new pic's over the weekend or something...

Nah, i had just given up half way through the project, and didn't even bother putting on the big guns. I have done MOC's before, and if it looks like shit, redo it! Then put it on the fourms! :D

It's a space armadillo of death. :studgod:

Nice, I like the finished product, it has a nice shape and isn't too rainbow. Good work!

The interior needs work... but this is SO MUCH WIN. I love the weaponry.

Yeah, that's what I said earlier, totally WIP. I plan to include everything, even the kitchen sink. ( and a restroom!)

So, is this a proper destroyer size? Certainly is bulky enough!

With all the firepower it has, I think you can call it whatever you want.

This is pretty sweet. What I would suggest, since you have such a roomy interior there, is to design two or three compact fighters, and make half of that space into a launch bay for defense fighters. Because, while this has a lot of firepower, it seems to me that it wouldn't be incredibly agile, and would definitely benefit from some escort fighters it could throw out at a moment's notice.

Anyway, pretty cool ship, I like it!
