The Akkadian fleet moved up and launched all fighters. The Light Frigates consolidated in front of the Tirpitz to form a defensive wall.

The captain of the carrier, ready for action, ordered that his men fire the primary cannon at the Nefrace even though they were out of range.

"I say when we're in range, now FIRE!!"

The gunner was accurate, and the first shot of the battle hit the deflector shields of Nefrace. However, a miserable damage roll (3) was easily parried.

The Nefrace then spent over half its move coming around to aim at the Akkadian fleet. It also fired the engines to push it towards the Battle Station. They fired the Hyper Phase Cannon at the Akkadian Light Frigates.
Note: I will not use bricks to denote trajectory unless it either exceeds a ships' normal move or isn't in the direction that the ship is facing.

The shot missed the intended target, but glanced the Akkadian Attack Frigate. The damage from the blast completely knocked out their deflector shields and destroyed the starboard laser cannon. However, no structure damage was incurred.

Then the rest of the Assyrians moved up. The station launched its four Gunboats, and Commander Armitage tried to speed up the repair of the communications array, but failed. (Tied roll.)

And then simultaneously all the Assyrian ships in range fired. One of the Assyrian Mercury Light Torpedo Frigates failed its attack roll, but the other two launched torpedoes, and so did the Battle Station.

The front Gunboats fired on the approaching Akkadian Fighters. One shot missed, but the other one destroyed one of them. The Assyrians have achieved First Blood. +1 to Skill for all Assyrian units next turn. (Increased Morale)

But the Akkadians got a chance to fire back. The lead Light Frigate took out the approaching torpedo to protect the Tirpitz.

Then the Tirpitz and the Attack Frigate fired on the Gunboats. One survived the blast from the Attack Frigate but it lost its shields. The main gun on the Tirpitz easily broke through the shields of the second Gunboat and completely destroyed it.

That was the end of Turn 1. Send orders for Turn 2!!

Nat, is this supposed to determine if the Immortal forces make planetfall? In that case, it will only be possible if the ASE fleet is completely destroyed right?

I think that this is a distraction, so that the ground troops are able to land with minimal, if any interference. However, that said, will this battle have any outcome on how the ground one plays out?

Yes it will but I don't have a metric for how that will work yet.
