Same. I actually use an ancient Thomas the Train Engine playing board for staging some of my Brikwars with baseplates. Its large enough that it can hold six 48 x 48 baseplates (3 above and 3 below) with ease.

Well, my room is rather small, so having a bigger table probably wouldn't even help me

I'm currently sorting some of my stuff to use the space - storage, not battlefield, unfortunately - I have more effectively.
I put my desk and table together for a couple of battles to create a huge field but that's not really something I can still do.

another advantage of wood sides is that if you roll the dice on the table, then they can't fall off the table either.
Further, if you are into non lego-use. The inside of the table can be filled with sand, and the sand can be sculpted into hills, ditches, trenches, craters very easily. Not particularly suggested for brikwars, as you will have to clean out every piece before returning them into regular lego-building use; but it's an excellent solution for other kinds of war-gaming.
