Flying Saucer [WIP, need help]

Before anything else, I must confess: The design is not 100% mine. I took the disc plate angles from another MOC i found on google. (also the cockpit consoles, but that is minor)
I would also like to note that the work here is still in progress. I will add cosmetic details as well as new colors.

Tractor beam/levitation device:

(yea it a propulsion device and a weapon, deal with it.)

Now, I got the following thought: The gunner currently controls the tractor beam... and that's it. I feel like i can place another weapon. The question is, what weapon?
I thought about the following options:

Red Alert style Laser Beam: In Red alert 2 Yuri's revenge, they had a flying saucer unit with a laser cannon that charged around the craft, and was shot in the desired direction, from the edge of the disc.
Bad image example:

(the ray is comming from the edge of the disc, not the middle of it)
honestly this is my favorite pick, but i have no idea how to mimic that: I can't have a gun barrel because theoretically it should be able to shoot from any point on the edge of the disc.

Side Cannons: Cannons that will be mounted from the top of the disc, the sides, or the bottom.

I don't really dig this one because it makes the craft look like it is not spinning.

Death-star-like cannon: Add barrels from the end of the tractor beam disc, which will shoot beams to the center of the ship, and from there to the unlucky enemy.

Another good solution, also pretty simple to build.

Mars Attacks! bottom cannon: replace the tractor beam with a robotic arm which in it's end a cannon will be placed.

Also simple to implement. But I don't like the fact ill need to forget the tractor beam. (and also, this is the weapon the creation i sorta copied had)

I would love to hear your opinion about the subject!

For the lasers, you can just treat the circular edge of the ship as the charge-up barrel. I didn't play enough Red Alert 2 to remember the saucers, so I'm picturing it like this:

This means that any damage to the edge of the ship will destroy the laser capability though.

That is exactly what I meant! It is true such mechanism is fragile, but so as any other aircraft in brikwars. but the million dollar question is: how do I represent such weapon with lego.. there are no barrels.

tried that, wasn't very happy with the outcome (you can see it's remains with the transparent pieces between the discs. but I guess its could work.

You can just say the sloping edge plates themselves are the barrel. Every point around the circular edge is a possible firing point.
