The Elkoss space sector is the territory of the now defunct Elkossian Star Republic, in G.R 2011 the ESR was attacked by an alliance of Peaches calling themselves the "United Peach Liberation Front, or UPLF", The war that followed was an ESR victory, but left both sides decimated, The ESR collapsed and balkanized and for the next five years the sector would fall into brutal secterian violence because of several competing successor states and separatist movements as well as a large contigent of Peach remnants. In Early G.R 2015 many of the major players had officially joined the AN Despite the entire sector still involved in a civil war, and by year's end the largest of the competing factions had started dragging external forces into the conflict by requesting military, logistical or diplomatic support from nations such as the USSSR, USA, Polish Confederation and 45th Union. The constant bickering in the AN between the ESS based parties became annoying to the assembly, and a special dialogue group was opened in the AN to allow issues in that particular sector to be addressed on their own by supervising neutral third parties.
It is now G.R 2016, and the the sector has been in a relatively peaceful state with ceasefires and truces signed between almost all parties, the exception being the Elkan Federal Republic, largest of the successor states is in the midst of an armed conflict with the communist separatist Mozorovan Federation a small seperatist movement in the west that controls huge amounts of territory as a result of the power vacuum left from the ESR-UPLF war, The EFR Claiming to be the legitimate successor of the old country, sees several of it's systems under communist occupation and it's third largest system, Kazmazia leading an anti-communist insurgency against the occupiers. The EFR has made contact with another faction near it's ancestral homelands in the Pan-Slavia sector, the Polish Confederation, offering to join their alliance against communism and trade support in each other's conflicts with communist entities.
Marking the first step to negotiations, a local businessman "Mick Shitler" has provided a complimentary consulate for the Poles in the city of Tarnopyl in the Elkan's homeworld Elkoss, and the first group of Polish soldiers are en route to garrison the consulate in preparation for the first negotiations. Far from the reach of their armed forces, the communists in the sector have activated sleeper agents in the capital system and are prepared to sabotage any attempt of diplomacy between the two.
A procession of Polish soldiers accompany Shitler as they proceed throughout town on the way to the new Consulate building, Tensions are high as many Elkans are still opposed to their nation becoming involved in affairs outside of their sector, while others are here to show support for the meeting. The Civil Protection police force keeps order and clears the way for the procession.
Elkan Army presence in Tarnopyl is light, maintaining only a perimeter force , temporarily closing all inbound traffic to the city.
The Limousine proceeds towards an intersection
Overlooking the intersection, two communist insurgents lay in wait for the procession, armed with a "Shuka" machine gun, nicknamed "Buzzsaw" by the army, the weapon was bought off the black market from peach resistance fighters who had stolen or looted it from the Elkan army
As they spot the limo, they rush to grab the parts of their weapon, two more agents are prepared elsewhere in the area to assist
The Shuka is assembled and loaded, and prepared to fire
The limo turns onto the street and into the sights of the machine gun.
Almost immediately the communist MG begins firing at the vehicle, hot laser bolts streak through the air at a frightening rate, and the noise of the crowd is completely overtaken by the deafening buzz of heavy weapon fire. The communists, not used to using such weaponry, nearly injure themselves from the heat venting of the Shuka.
Riding in an unarmored car, Shitler is minced in seconds, some of the Polish soldiers are also hit in the first volley of fire, carnage litters the street behind the vehicle
During the confusion of the gunfire, another insurgent throws stolen Elkan stick grenades into the bed of a nearby military truck to further sabotage any attempt of a counter attack by security forces.
The grenades detonate, wrecking the vehicle and causing damage all over the area.
Now attempting to kill the soldiers, the communists continue their spray and pray toward the car, cutting down police and bystanders in droves, the crowd scatters in terror
The fourth agent emerges on a rooftop on a streetside building and throws pipe bombs and molotovs down into the street.
A Molotov causes the limo to erupt into a fireball, Surviving police and Polish soldiers are now lost and confused, hide behind their riot shields and whatever cover they can find.
As quickly as it started, the hail of fire and explosions comes to an end, the communists scatter, leaving behind the gun that suffered from catastrophic overheating and caught fire, The city is put into lockdown and security forces regain order. but the aftermath of this terrorist attack, and it's effect on the negotiations are still yet to be seen
Part II
Following the incident labeled a "terrorist attack" in Tarnopyl, the regional powers in the sector are at each other's throats, having played a wild game of accusations several factions mobilize their armed forces. With long standing ceasefire agreements about to fall apart, the ESS Dialogue group is called in to an emergency session with all factions involved in the sector asked to send their representatives in hopes of avoiding another breakdown into full scale war
Delegates and Ambassadors of all the involved parties of the sector gather in the capital city on Elkoss for AN resolution 590 in a neutral demilitarized zone administered by the AN, and guarded by Killbots rather than AN peacekeepers, as few foreign powers agree to send their troops to participate in peacekeeping operations in the sector that seems to be a constant source of drama and booty bothered. Resolution 590 aims to investigate and assign blame for the terrorist attack, as well as to look for ways to appease all parties in hopes of dialing the situation back

Front bench - Great Powers of the sector
New Elkoss Republic - Based on the Elkoss moon of Oplot and second largest power in the sector, the New Republic viewed the Elkan mobilization as a direct threat to them as the EFR and New Republic had fought several bloody wars in the past, and have been living through an uneasy ceasefire since November.
Elkan Federal Republic - The dominant power of the sector by far, the EFR has been fighting a series of border skirmishes with the Communists for weeks prior to the incident, and desperately wants to regain control of the Kazmazian system from the communists. The state harbours many grudges elsewhere too, with their chief opponent the New Republic. with the Elkoss Commonwealth who supported the New Republic in the last conflict and was also suspected to be preparing to attack the EFR before AN interevention, and lastly with the several remnants and rump states of the UPLF that still remain in the sector, which long after the great war, the EFR still behaves with a vengeful attitute towards.
Elkoss Commonwealth - Based in the "Olympic System" that sits just outside the sector's borders. The Commonwealth is the third largest power in the sector. While they remain largely isolationist, in recent conflicts they have lent support to several parties. They are looking for any means of loosening the stranglehold the EFR has in the sector, and consider the nations of the ESS to be "uncivilized and unenlightened". Whatever deals or support the Commonwealth provides to anyone, is usually just a temporary ploy before backstabbing their partners later.
Mozorovan Socialist Union - Based in the Mozorov system, the MSU is a small communist power that holds considerable amounts of territory in the sector thanks to a power vacuum left by the ESR/UPLF war. While not proven by anyone, the communists were indeed responsible for the Tarnopyl attack, yet have a convenient scapegoat they intend to shift blame onto in the numerous peach militant groups that exist in the sector. The MSU is largely beileved to be a puppet state of the faraway USSSR.
Back bench - Regional and Minor powers of the sector
Peach Republic of Lemon - While not actually a state or even a legitimate power, the "Peach Republic of Lemon" claimed to be a city state in some obscure minor system in the sector, but is actually nothing more than a petty gang of peach pirates. This information somehow went over the AN's head and a "Lemoner" was brought to the processions, who proceeded to do nothing but drink, and later steal alcohol.
Scavengers - A delegant was sent to Represent many of the nomadic scavenger tribes across the system
Minorities - A delegate was also sent to stand in for the small population of racial minorities, including but not limited to: Croc-people, Bird-people, Blue Martians, and for some reason, Dungan Jaw-Jaws.
OASIS - No one really knows why OASIS was invited, as no one is certain they even sure they operate in the sector, nevertheless a peach claiming to be from OASIS showed up and demanded an audience.
ESS Peach Alliance - One of the two main groups that emerged from the destruction of the UPLF, the Peach Alliance is the more progressive half of the UPLF remnants, while still very unfriendly towards most of the groups in the sector, they are willing to negotiate and work with others. They are looking to solidify an alliance with the progressive New Republic to defend peach rights. They are also believed to have contacted the 45th Union. Their military known only as the "Peach Resistance" has been in constant conflict with the Elkan military as the EFR is largely unaware that the peach forces splintered some time ago, and that they have been focusing most of their military campaigns on the wrong group.
Triangular State of Elkoss - Based in the wastelands of the Outer Haven system, The Triangular State is a state dominated by the Church of the Triangle, an extremist religious movement. The TS ambassador, also a religious preacher is furious that his people are relegated to the back bench. and bares hatred for literally everyone who doesn't call the Triangle God their master.
Polish Commonwealth - while not an actual power in the sector, the Poles have sent a delegate to participate in the gathering due to their personnel being one of the targets of the attack. The Poles, while officialy neutral, are seen as guests of the Elkans and they also suspect Communist guilt as they are the most obvious culprits.
Peach Brotherhood - The other fraction of the UPLF split, the Peach Brotherhood is a far more aggressive and barbaric sect of the peach peoples in the ESS. Largely focused on vengeance towards yellows rather than securing peach rights, the Peach Brotherhood and Peach Alliance split up from the UPLF in G.R 2015, they swore an oath to OASIS shortly after.
The AN Speaker announces the beginning of discussions for resolution 590.
"Welcome all!, the negotiations of Resolution 590 are now in session. The first matter at hand for today is the incident in Tarnopyl, Elkoss three days ago. This attack is unprecedented and we fear that without measures being taken, this will stand as a flashpoint for yet another conflict that this sector is ill prepared to suffer. The speaker recognizes General Klemetsky, of the Elkan Federal Republic!"
The EFR representative, a Military figure. Opens his statement by accusing the communists of the attack, backed up by both Polish and Elkan intelligence.
"Thank you Mr. Speaker, The mobilization of our armed forces is simply nothing more than a reaction to the terrorist actions of the Mozorovan communist seperatists, we have gathered intelligence from both our own military and that of the Poles, implicating the Mozorovans in this haineous act, to accomplish nothing more than to sabotage attempts at an Elkan-Polish alliance against Communism, these folk are nothing more than puppets of the USSSR I say!"
The MSU delegate interrupts the General
"Objection! you have no proof whatsoever!, it is your country whom are the terrorists!. The Elkan state wishes nothing but to deny the independence of the peoples of the western systems from your corrupt and terrible system!.. The simple truth is that the attack in Tarnopyl is just one of many incidents sprouting from your incompetent armed force's failure at finishing the job with the peach resistance! There's no doubt that this is just another retaliation in response to your continued, yet blundered campaigns against them!
The Peach Brotherhood spokesman clambers on his table and tosses his drink onto the Mozorovan's suit and insults him, while the Polish delegate also yells at him for his blame-shifting and calls him out for his lies
"LYING BASTARD!"
"You are a very bad liar sir yet you speak of truth. Let's talk of truth then! The truth is that the "incompetent" Elkan Army has stopped every advance your soldiers have tried to make eastward, almost deciseively. You have been unable to push the front line as much as an inch, and the only reason your puppet of a state holds any territory at all in this sector, is because you had no opposition to stop you during your first conquests. May I remind you of what happened when you attacked the Kazmazia system? Your troops were bogged down in a quagmire and are still fighting as we speak to take control of the system. And even there you were facing an already under strength Army group that you still can't "finish the job". Your army is nothing but an angry mob of incompetent, angry peasants manipulated by your evil government and it's Soviet masters. And on the eve of a deal to bring Polish support into the sector, as well as Elkan military support into our conflict with our own Communist enemies, isn't it convenient for any red that those negotiations never took place? I'm afraid that your terrorist attack has backfired sir, and only sped the process
Not being able to counter the Pole's statement, the Mozorvan becomes enraged and starts screaming back. The room explodes into a screaming match
"YOU POLES ARE JUST LIKE THE FASCISTS HERE, YOU ARE CORRUPT CAPITALISTS WHO WANT INEQUALITY!"
During the commotion, the Triangular preacher stands up and starts ranting about his god, at this point, so many people are yelling, no one can really understand anything being said
"THERE IS NO GOD BUT THE TRIANGLE GOD, ALL HAIL THE HOLY TRINITY OF VERTICIES, TRIANGULUM, ENTANGULUM"
Annoyed by the fistfight of politics the meeting had become, most of the delegates storm out the door, except for the Pirate delegate, who is just drinking, watching the drama unfold. The assembly literally turns into a fistfight when the two Peach representatives start fighting in the back bench for no clear reason other than that they hold grudges for one another
General Klemetsky announces his intentions to push for an offensive campaign into the Mozorovan territory, and makes grand threats and promises of annihilation, The peaches keep fighting, and the Preacher keeps ranting.
"THERE IS NO GOD BUT THE TRIANGLE GOD, NO GOD BUT THE TRIANGLE GOD, NO GOD BUT THE TRIANGLE GOD"
"Well that's it!, The other delegates have pretty much confirmed they don't care at this point!. My red friend, you had best run home and tell your peasant army to batten down the hatches, because we're not just coming back for one or two systems, we're coming for -everything-, You can't run far enough, you can't run fast enough. you guys are fucked!"
In the back benches, everyone's suddenly stops yelling as they notice one of the peaches land a solid punch on the jaw of the other, the room goes quiet with feint chuckling from some of those in the room, all of a sudden the OASIS rep stands up and screams
"KABOOM ACKBAR"
But he is shot down by a Security Killbot before he can detonate his crude IED, The AN speaker then shouts over the speakers
"Right then gentlemen!, Consider Resolution 590 adjourned. Resolution 591 same time next week? this time with OASIS suicide bombers not in attendance?"
The remaining delegates storm out the door. While the Commonwealth and New Republic seemingly voiced their disinterest in becoming involved, Resolution 590 is a total failure, and the following day the Elkan government announces plans for a full scale "reclamation" of the western systems. Once again in a flurry of drama and tears, a relatively small conflict has flared up into a major one.
This will serve as a precursor to a forum battle
