En-route To The Challenger 1 MBT[Updated 2016/2/21]

This will the the dedicated forum thread detailing my progress in constructing a Challenger 1 tank.
First turret prototype is complete, with the hull currently under construction. You would not believe how much of a pain in the arse it is to build a 7 stud wide chassis!

As for the tracks and running gear, less attention will be paid to it until I can put an order in for some Brickmania 2 stud wide track links.

For me this is the main issue still as so far i have only used rubber tracks. From your picture i can see there are much simpler ways
than the one i built vaguely based on Lego instructions.
The general design for turrets of modern Lego tanks seems to be the same regardless of the model using those winged plates and
flags at the side.

Second Update
Image

The engine deck and side paneling is mostly complete! The proper gun is in place(colours not final) and the gunner's sight(?) on the right side of the turret has been overhauled. The turret will be rebuilt over the next couple weeks, with the chassis being shrunk by 1-2 plates as well.
