Thanks everyone for your input.
warman45, thanks for the budget, that's in the ball park of what I thought too.
Bonn-o-Tron, sorry about that, I'll remember not to confuse Lego with BrikWars. Also Thanks for posting those pictures I have seen them before and they are the inspiration for this project in the first place. if they didn't exist I doubt I would start this project.
silvadream, I did a search at bricklink for some of the parts, rifles included, and this may be cheaper than I thought. although based on the quantity most sellers have I might start small and grow the factions slowly.
warman45, The great thing about lego mini figures is the simplicity of the mini figures, In the image, Bonn-o-Tron, posted showing the original red and blue naval imperial minifigs the only difference is the color, the pattern is the same from figure to figure yet people have made a determination the red figures represented British and the blue represented French. The uniforms from this time (Seven year War/French and Indian War/ American Revolution/French Revolution) have many similar elements the only real difference is the color, I'm talking in simplified Lego figure terms in a more realistic figure there would be a lot of little detail and differences but in Lego terms get the brick color right and a sticker and you have a close enough figure.
One of the changes I'm planing on making on the French infantry besides a torso sticker is to add a bow (as in ribbon not weapon) made out of two part epoxy putty (Green stuff) to the tri corner hats, and paint the edges of the hat white. I would love to have rifle with bayonets but I think that would be beyond my skill level. if anyone has any idea how to include a bayonet to a Lego flintlock rifle please let me know.
Here is a link to the uniform I want to emulate in my French infantry

warman45, Thank you for posting those images of more realistic uniform types. they will be help full when designing the torso sticker. The great thing about this time period is the verity of uniforms. I think for the rangers hats I'm going to have to design something and get it cast up in resin or something. I can't think of anything in the Lego catalogue of mini figure accessories that would make a good conversion.
Thanks again everyone for your input. I appreciate it.
