Where to get minifigs?
So, I'm new to making armies and was wondering whether it's a good idea to buy minifigs in the (seemingly expensive) official sets, or if there are any sites that do particularly good deals.
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

idk, battle packs when you find them. buy sets and then sell the non-minifig parts. if you need a whole bunch of one kind of helmet for your guys, try bricklink

eBay: Good for large lots, usually mixed themes of figs, ya never know what you're gonna get. Buying more uniform groups of figs, or lots of one fig can get pricey on eBay, but you might get lucky.
Bricklink: Good if you need one fig, or a lot of copies of one fig. A pain in the arse to figure out minimum purchases, shipping, if they even ship to your location, etc. That said, you can get a lot of one kind of fig for fairly cheap.
Pick A Brick: Not much selection, but very good prices.
Lego: Buying battle packs or the new city "starter packs" or whatever they're called can be good. I've found Amazon to be best, a while back they had a four fig fire set on sale for USD $5. Walmart and Target will sometimes have these things for cheap.

IP laws work differently in China. Most of these knockoffs would be illegal anywhere else, but China never bought into the whole idea of copyrights and patent protections.Tzan wrote:isn't this completely illegal.

No bully plz.
Also quality has improved over the years. They'e still brittle feeling and the printing isn't great but they're getting better bit by bit. Some brands are hard to distinguish from the real thing from what /toy/ has said.
Also they're marked up like 150% for you dumb overseas buyers. I could go down the street and buy those guys for like $2

Re: Where to get minifigs?
quality is hit or miss, depends on who you buy from
some are straight up knockoffs and may have large problems like brittle plastic, discoloration (ranging anywhere from slightly noticeable to very noticeable), loose joints etc
others are either actual lego that has "fallen off the truck" or pieces created from the same or very similar molds as the official lego
if you want to give it a try, find a few different sellers and buy a few minifigures from each one (prices are very cheap and most if not all sellers will give you free shipping, just don't be surprised if it shows up 2 days later or 2 months later)

Is that bullying? I thought it was just a legitimate difference of perspective. The fact that there are still places that the West hasn't managed to impose its bizarre proscriptivist ideas about IP rights is a mark in their favor, as far as I'm concerned.Insert_blank wrote:No bully plz.

Bricklink. It has to be one of the best places on Earth to get cheap minifigs, mind you Ebay's pretty good as well...
When it comes to official LEGO sets though, battle packs are pretty good, you can find older ones reduced for pretty good prices.
