A Brikwars Novel

Post by Archduke » Fri Apr 03, 2020 9:25 am

This is currently just an idea, but I think it would be really interesting if the Brikwars community collaborated on writing and publishing a novel. A general story could be drawn up and people could sign up to each contribute a different chapter to the story, art could even be made by some of our incredibly talented members.

Either that or we could make a full Visual dictionary with each person contributing pages for their own stuff.

I like this idea a lot and I played with it a little bit (see: Brikwars: The Visual Dictionary) but never got anything off the ground. But if people want to do it, and someone is ready to organize it, I'm in!

Edit: more thoughts

RE: a novel, it might be cool to do something in the style of a history textbook that covers brikverse from start to end.

RE: The visual dictionary, this one is harder because people will need to provide a fairly consistent level of quality for photography. It might require people to take new photos of armies and stuff.
I make apocalypses and apocalypse accessories.

The Visual dictionary part was inspired by your version, I agree that getting a consistent level of quality may be difficult though. Setting up a page template might be a good place to start.

I don't think people need to photograph their whole armies, just a few shots of troops and vehicles will do. The main difficulty will be removing the backgrounds, because not everyone has access to tools that would allow them to do that.

This is a good idea, perhaps something along the lines of World war z, a series of shorter stories set within the brikwars universe exploring themes of violence and insanity.

"Children, today we're going to learn about "The Battle of St. Brikleberry".
Also known as "That time Warhead visited his mom".
Please stop stabbing your neighbor and prepare to take notes."

Instead of chapters: pages. And each person uses their page however they wish. A page of novel text? A comic format with photos? A single big splash illustration? You never know how the person after you is going to continue the story.

The thing is since we are still making battles today we would also need later books to document those.
