[BM26] Frums Defense Force & Wotcha Tank Killa Krew

Frums Defense Force with Bombarde.

Image
Far away in the Brikverse, a little to the left and close to the home worlds of the Briktron Empire, lies the tiny planet of Terra Frumsa Ultra Minor: home to the Free People's Republic of Frums, affectionally known as the Wee Free Republic. Its blue skinned, red haired inhabitants are a kind and freedom loving people. Unfortunately their minute world is rich in resources and conveniently (or inconveniently depending on the perspective) located near important interstellar shipping lanes. This fact has made Frums an ideal target for marauding orks and other factions looking to get rich fast or add a mini planet to their realm. The Frumsians have stood firm defending their planet and their way of life. Giving asylum to anyone fleeing persecution (or the law) as long as they serve a tour in their planetary defense force. This battle pack showcases this army and is an ideal starter for a Frums Defense Force army builder. The FDF is a new faction.

Image
Because of its small population FDF is heavily dependent on alien fugitives and mercenaries. The army is therefore a hodge podge of races and species. The Frumsians have developed a special tactic, combining their non-lethal zapsticks with more-than-lethal power swords and blasters. The zapstick can disrupt a minifig sized opponent with a succesful hit, making it easier for the rest to engage. "I zap 'em, you stab 'em' is a common saying amongst the soldiers of the FDF.

The Bombarde is a self propelled, well armored 4" mortar. It can lob size 3 explosive charges across the battle field and move on to the next strategic position. These types of compact high-tech machines are favored by the Frumsians since surface space on their planet is scarce.

Wotcha Tank Killa Krew

Image
The Wotchas is a Brootal Ork Klan, roaming the Brikverse in search of things to break. Having been drawn into the Brikverse by the raw power of the Relics of Grimjaw and looking forward to a good krumpin' during the Ragnablok, you can imagine the disappointment when they found out that they were ten years too late. This enormous letdown, this complete failure of expectation brought the powerful Uuurgh! into existence. A totally, utterly pointless wave of destruction of anything that gets in their way. And sulking on the couch with a blanket of course. The Wotchas are, though known and feared, still a new faction.

Image
The Tank Killa's of the Wotcha Klan are amongst the craziest of Orks. Prefering rokkits and explosives over anything else, they love to get close to armored vehicles and let it rip. When too close they rely on their heavy armor to absorb the worst of the blow. And if that failes: oh well, at least it was a beautiful explosion. The Krew is equiped with a variety of bastard weapons, both ranged, close combat or both and supported by Grot munchfig volunteers who excitedly run towards the enemy with live, pressure triggered explosives strapped to their heads.

Image
Tank Killa Nob Boss with Rokkit Hammer, a primitive but effective weapon against armored vehicles. It can be used either as a close combat weapon or thrown from 3" away. Both to devastating and loud effect. Since this is a kind of 'use once' type of weapon, the boss also carries around a bastard scimitar.

Image
Accompanying the Krew is the Krump 'n Go Kart. Being the little brother of the War Buggy, it's perfect for Orks with lesser means or ambitions but still a need for speed. What the Kart lacks in size and weaponry, it makes up in sheer face melting velocity. With its oversized, souped up, double injector turbo thrust engine it roars and blasts across the battle field. Bringing any ork that manages to hold on to where the action is.

Frums... ... ... someone's been reading Terry Pratchett. Those are CLEARLY Nag Mac Feegles but taller.

Theme: 8 Their armor is coherent, they look like a coherent force despite being different species.

Substance: 9 I love that mortar. Small tank with a big-big-big mortar on it? Yes, please. This looks like a capable force, with thought-out weaponry. The only thing that docked points is I feel the mortar tank might be a little... big... for a battlepack.

Story: 8 Decent background for the faction, explaining why they're not all Feegles (yes, I'm going to call them that).

Photos: 7 While the photos are nice, that white background makes them a little hard to look at. Mind you, I'd rather see that than someone's table with laundry hanging in the background behind it...

Wotchas: Ork Wrekkaz by any other name are still Ork Wrekkaz.

Theme: 8 Clearly a coherent force, looks like they work well together.

Substance: 7 I like the buggy, I like the weapons, but it feels like this is too much for a battlepack. Likewise, there doesn't seem to be a 'basic' troop type in this.

Story: 6 ...they're orks. Yes, the background you gave fits them, but they're basically orks. Or Brootalz, or trolls, but... yeah.... Nothing really unique here. Fun, but not unique.

Photos: 7 See for Frums above, same comments apply.

Entry 1: Frums Defense Force

Theme: 8 I like the style of the force and they have a unified, yet diverse feel. Solid.

Substance: 8 The Bombarde is great. I love the build style. But it does feel too large for a battlepack, even in the modern era. Figures are simple and massable.

Story: 8 A good background that got me interested the Frums.

Photography: 8 I appreciate the cleanliness, lighting, focus, and variety of angles. Simple background.

Entry 2: Wotcha Tank Killa Krew

Theme: 9 I'll admit that I'm a sucker for this kind of force, but to be fair, you've executed the concept well.

Substance: 9 Great selection of figures with swappable armor and weapons, plus a nice build that feels battlepack-appropriate. Though personally I wish the kart had a tad more refinement in places.

Story: 5 I like the concept, but there is not much besides they're battle hungry Orks/Brootalz/etc. I appreciate the attempt to explain their uniqueness, but unfortunately, it's still lacking substance for such a well-designed force.

Photography: 7 Same as Entry 1.
