I currently stand on the scale factor with, 100studs light frigate 200studs destroyer 400studs battleship.
That or abbandon water-ship typings.

That is ridiculously big! 400 studs for a battleship is absurd, my old ship is 200 studs long, no way could anyone here build a 400 stud long ship.muffinman42 wrote:![]()

100 studs is a lot of ship (31.5 inches or 80cm for those counting). I haven't built anything that big since before the Dark Ages. My latest vessle, the HMS Desmond Hume, is only 24 inches.

Compare that to the USS John Bell Hood, at 28in, and you can tell that I'm really cheating with these huge booms on the front.

I consider the Hood to be more of a Battlecruiser due to it's heavy weapons, and the Hume a sort of missile frigate, primarily because I forgot to put weapons on it until the very end and decided to put those recessed tubes on the sides.
I think a better indicator of SHIP size would be Displacement, rather than Length. The USS Robert E Lee, while only 22" long (about 2/3rds of S.H.I.P. status), is nearly 800 cubic inches, over twice that of the John Bell Hood and about three times the Desmond Hume's volume:

Basically I think ship classification should be by interior volume, rather than just length, which seems kind of arbitrary and sometimes leads to people like me putting huge antennae on the front just to get that extra few inches.

SHIPs are absurbly huge!
I figure they would atleast be close to the size of modern water going ships, yet you lot seem to think a yacht is massive!

because if you buy from lego a yacht is 1 grand.
used it's 200 dollars, and i would like to point out at least one ship here is the size of a ww2 minesweaper.

Ummm, you are all quite wrong (except Natalya) as way back when the wiki first started, we laid out the ship definitions. Starting size is 100 studs for Destroyers and up, with class ups every 50 studs.

(If were necroing I HAVE to quote this) That gives you 100 studs for destroyer 150 for cruiser and 200 for battleship/dreadnought, where's frigates and corvettes and others.501stCadians wrote:Ummm, you are all quite wrong (except Natalya) as way back when the wiki first started, we laid out the ship definitions. If I remember I think I helped with most of the stats, 100-129 is frigate/Corvette, 130-159 Is destroyer territory, 160-189 is Cruisers and 200+ is Battleship/Dreadnought/Carrier, my old ship is here, I think the Venus is 140 studs?
The fact is no one agrees on a universal scale, and in all honesty I don't give much of a fuck as a lot of people here are stubborn old turds and if they want to have their own way I'm not going to argue (much).
