Reinforcements have arrived from New Glasgow (a nearby planet relatively speaking) and Sergeant Thunder is not impressed. 'Nothing but a bunch of remittance men, ner-do-wells, and shifty types,' was the comment I overheard from him after morning rollcall.
I knew Sergeant Thunder was annoyed enough about inheriting Trooper Clark (right hand end in the back row) as the sole survivor of the original garrison on Dinoreich, but now with the arrival of the New Glasgow chaps he's positively seething. Fortunately with a lady present, - Amanda from the Dinoreich Spaceport Control Authority (staff of one), - he had to mind what he said out loud.
Mind you a delivery of proper British equipment this morning did cheer the good sergeant up a little as his Marines now have respirators and the correct Marine issue swords (I don't know how Trooper Clark managed to get one, perhaps Sergeant Thunder hasn't noticed yet)
I've been busy with assembling weapons for everyone. The guns borrowed from the French have been returned which has pleased Sergeant Thunder no end. The British version of the minigun rifle is built around the flintlock musket instead of the rifle I use as a basis for the French version. I want to make points of recognition between my steampunk armies and weapons is one way to do it.

French minigun rifle, British minigun rifle. British Imperial Marine close quarter carbine with axe bayonet. British Naval twin barrelled blunderbuss and British Imperial Marine rocket laucher.

I've decided that all my steampunk womenfolk will be decently clad in long skirts (what's good enough for me is good enough for them

I think the situation could be best described as allied, but suspicious of each other. Lots of national pride and behind the hand name-calling as well as arguements over who is in command should they actually manage to work together.Silverdream wrote:Hail Britannia!
I'm liking these sexy customs so far. My only problem is how a minifig holds it, but that's a small problem.
Btw, are the french allied with the Britannians or against them like in pre-1900?
Thanks for the comments chaps.

Yes of course, the Harper's volley gun from the Sharpe series! How could I forget. With the miniguns I've made so far I was thinking in terms of the whole gun barrel revolving and firing, bang, bang, bang & etc like a slow firing machinegun. Certainly the French version I made first looks like it operates this way, but I should modify the British version based on the musket into a Harper's volley gun.
In a senior moment I managed to double up a Bricklink order for rifles, muskets and pistols so it's not as if I'm lacking for raw material

I'd imagine some sort of American Civil War ironclad look.Silverdream wrote:Well yes. But they aren't big wooden space boats, that'd be silly. They're huge iron battleships of great expense and power. Similiar to WWI dreadnoughts.Pwnerade wrote:So are their spaceships steam-powered, too?
Also don't forget that nuclear power and steam power can go hand in hand.
