I wish Erik went back to twee punk stuff, not a huge train fan

His trains are pretty cool though. Interesting building techniques and bright colours

There's a suprising amount of creativity in figuring how to recreate lines of real vehicles

They are nice, don't get me wrong. But twee-tanks and airships are cooler in my opinion

It's impressive he's doing it digitally as most people tend to use model plans

I love how practical(Gears actually do stuff) that build is, but the colour blocking is all over the place

Re: The "Look at this!" Bricks Thread
Not every build has to have color blocking... its like you learn one term and now judge everything on it..

Re: The "Look at this!" Bricks Thread
imo the color scheme on that build is consistent and compelling

This following is all obvious but I feel in part responsible for introducing that term. Colourschemes can best help with suspension of disbelief IMO, and the colourscheme on that MOC perfectly logical. But to judge it on that in the first place is to completely miss the point of his builds. The use of different colours highlights each individual piece; Beau Donnan is an engineer and having each part discernable helps to appreciate the lego system engineering going on. A bit like an engineering sketch.RedRover wrote:Not every build has to have color blocking... its like you learn one term and now judge everything on it..

Nice color blocking in that paragraph.ikensall wrote:This following is all obvious but I feel in part responsible for introducing that term. No seriously though, it looks a bit of a mess to me. I do not like this building style with its random colours because that is my personal opinion. To me it lacks visual consistency. If everyone else thinks its because I'm piling onto a bandwagon or whatever, I don't really care. Fuck those guys and their judging! On this build there are bricks that look like the same part but are cut off with a perfect line of colour for no reason(EG 2x1 bricks like the headlight) Its impossible to tell which elements are grouped together. Its just chaotic and random!
