I'm really not that worried about baseplates. IMHO, SNOT terrain or a simple, debris spread tabletop can work just fine. All snobbery earns me is a huge bill

Baseplates are the best for any battle. I have:

1 32x32 darkgray
3 32x32 green
4 32x32 blue
1 32x32 straight road
1 32x32 road that branches into 3 smaller roads or garages
1 32x32 (around that) raised fischer price
1 48x32 raised white
1 16x32 tan
1 16x32 blue
1 16x32 green
2 16x16 green
1 16x16 light green
1 16x8 light green
1 32x32 green raised
1 16x16 dark gray with studless area
1 Loot Island plate

You know, you may argue that Maddox did wrong by Necroing these 3 or so threads and he should know better but I'm sort of happy that he did. these threads are (IMHO) important and relevant even now.

Wow, this thread is so old it even has a post from Rayhawk in it.

Lately I'm ashamed to admit I kind of like Mega Bloks' old "terrain" baseplates for display purposes. (I don't know if they still make them, I picked these up in like '02-'03.) I had a couple of Lego marketing types over to my place a couple nights ago, and they were very impressed by my display case... until I revealed the horrifying source of the baseplates within!

I love the 48x32 Ogel Mountain Fortress baseplate. I used it to build a snow base. It's supposed to be a Hoth base, but looks nothing like it.

I assume we're talking the BIG ones and not the little ones from the original pirate sets? I've got TONS of those little 16 x 16 ones with a variety of patterns (some all green, some all blue, lots of islands), four of the green 22 x 16 ones from one of the old Castle sets, some 16 x 32 plates, and a bunch of 32 x 32 plates (green, blue, blue with island, tons of road plates)....

um...

Perhaps I have not mentioned that I am 33 years old and have been collecting Lego since I was 5? Yeah, I'm a Lego geek, I admit it.

So yeah, I know the bigger ones are best to use for Brikwars, but I have used the small 16 x 16 ones linked together using bridges (hey, most of the tiny ones are blue with islands or all-blue) for water terrain...

OK, guys, let's finally do this poll.

Because baseplates are very important and I wanna know who has them but doesn't use them.

Pros of battling on baseplates:
-More attractive to view
-Easier to deploy troops (carpet floors can be unstable for minifig feet)
-Means Non-dimmydom.

If you don't have them but you wish you did, go grab one. Hurry. Even if it's just one. And do all your next battles on it. And then get another one. And your battlefield is bigger. Now you won't stop. And people will like your reports.

At one point I nearly started disliking my baseplates when putting up my last battle 'cos I couldn't figure out how to put 'em and if you don't have enough but want a bigger battlefield the gaps they leave look pretty stupid. You can't miss em if you want anything to be on your terrain because then it shifts way too much and I like seeing them in battles too but Zahru's last battle proved you can have a good waaagh without them too (and on a field that would be difficult to make without them).
