Squidhead Dominion: Echo Battle-Carrier

Post by Swordsalmon » Sun Nov 23, 2014 10:20 pm

Within individual baronies of the Dominion lies many smaller warships. One of the most effective classes of ships within the fleet is the Echo-class Battle-Carrier. Though not a true SHIP, this vessel ably supports a fleet with both significant firepower and carrier capability.

Front and overview of the ship, dubbed the Shylock. At 73 studs in length and crewed by 13 Squidhead people, she is quite large. At the front of the ship, you can see its two beam projectors and a Blink Cannon. The Dominion accesses hyperspace through their unique Blink Drive, allowing for possibly the fastest FTL of any empire. Historically, enemies of the Dominion utilize a shielding method known as Anticipatory Shielding. To conserve energy, sensors estimate the impact time of ordnance and raise shields at last minute. The Blink Cannon circumvents this entirely; as the cannon contains a miniature Blink Drive, it can fire particles so fast that sensors cannot anticipate the attack.

Squidheads and Near Squids: There are two general categories of Squidheads; true Squidheads and the Near-Squids. These Near-Squids come from the same genetic background as true Squidheads, but some differences came. There are two types; the Manta Men and Skadwordians. Near-Squids enjoy most the rights that Squidheads have, though they are often looked down upon.

The Manta Men are more removed genetically. While Squidheads are grandiose, selfish, and prone to backstabbing, the Manta Men are highly cooperative and united as a group. It's said that if the Dominion was founded by the Manta Men, the universe would have been long conquered. Highly industrious and militaristic, Manta Men crewed fleets are known for their tenacity in battle. In recent times, frustrated Manta Men have broken off from the Dominion to form rebel groups. This insurrection has proven itself an able adversary, and may severely threaten the Dominion in times to come. On the left is a Loyalist Manta, and the right a Rebel.

Skadwordians are closer genetically to true Squids. Known for their dour personalities and patronage of the arts, Skadwordians are a bizarre race. Unlike their brethren, Skadwordians do not tolerate the idiotic Patrackains and seek to destroy the. Along with the Manta Men, Skadwordians have begun harboring resentment to their lieges and have started to sphincter off from the empire. Rumors that the master Squid Overlord is actually a Skadwordian (instead of a Squidhead) has compelled many to question the legitimacy of the Squidheads' rule. On the left is a Loyalist Skadwordian, and the right a Rebel.

There's going to be more of them. I'd like to add more Spongebob-related characters are subraces, so let's see where it goes.

Patrakkians and the Spu'ungubo'b perhaps? I don't know what to do with the sandy squirrels, but I feel like Crab-men is already generic sci-fi enough for a sub race, and the fishfolk can be made into a stand-in for pretty much any generic alien race.

Kickass carrier though. That hangar is much roomier than I expected.

I probably won't make a Sandy race, but certainly fish-people. The goal is after completing my new SHIP is to build another one of these carriers. Get a whole real fleet for the Dominion!
