Chat Battle: Escape from planet Drex

On the immortal occupied planet of Drex the remnants of the USA army attempt to escape.






The USA(played By KommanderKen and Sporticus has to either send a message from the radio tower and wait for evac, or take the shuttle to escape. The immortals(played by Scratch and mgb must stop them).

TURN 1: USA



Both squads move up and prepare a response action. The hero and one of the SpecOps make it to cover.


OVERVIEW:

Round 1: Immortal team 1(Scratch)



The Huntress attempts a heroic feat of starting a brushfire with a flaming arrow.



The feat, however, fails as the arrow lamely hits water.



A hidden trooper ambushes the Americans. He hits, but can't overcome his targets armor.



A specOps trooper responds with a perfectly aimed shot.



with a whopping 9 damage the Immortal grunt is eliminated.

Round 1: Immortals team 2: (mgb)



The sniper takes a shot for the flamethrowers fuel tank.



...



The explosion rips the flamethrower soldier and one SpecOps apart and lights several trees on fire.



This guy managed to bail away.



The gate is lifted and the Phalanx advances into a withering hail of fire, withstanding it completely.



They only manage to kill a grunt though.



The smartgunner prepares to unleash hell.



...and he critfails after 1 shot. He'll need to reload


OVERVIEW:

ROUND 2: USA Alpha(KommanderKen)



The two specops run to cover in the swamp.



Meanwhile Morse takes off sprinting.



HE GOES UP THE FENCE!



A flying kick aimed at the Huntress hits a redshirt instead,



Who plummets to his death.

ROUND 2: USA Bravo (Sir Sporktimus)



The squad sprints 2 the swamp. 2 soldiers don't sprint and prepare a response action.



The smartgunner rejoins them and reloads.

ROUND 2: Immortals 1 (Scratch)



The grunt in the tower moves to shove Morse, and the Huntress gets ready to riddle him with arrows.



And the a SpecOps come FLYING out of NOWHERE and takes the arrows in his kneeass!(and dies).




It was a pretty absurd redshirt roll.



Morse must have a rabbits foot somewhere, because both of these grunts rolled 2s. Still, being alone, disrupted, surrounded by enemies and with a corpse on top of him things are not looking bright for supersoldier Morse.

ROUND 2: Immortals 2 (mgb)



The sniper moves up to get a better shot, despite the response fire aimed at him(it misses).



He then critfails is skill roll and falls off the ledge, landing behind the advancing phalanx.



These two troops are eliminated, but everyone else was out of range or survived the shots.


OVERVIEWS:



Most of the fires go out, but one spreads to a nearby tree

ROUND 3: USA Alpha and Bravo (Ken and Sporktimus)



The last SpecOps opens fire on the grunt in the tower. While he crit succeeds his skill roll, damage and overskill both critfail.



Morse's luck holds out! he throws a body into one grunt, disrupting him and shoots the other one!



He books it to the shuttle ramp.



Bravo Squad and the last SpecOps are almost at the fence.



The smartgunner unloads on the Phalanx, taking down 2. (If not for the shields, he would have killed 4)

ROUND 3 IMMORTALS 1(Scratch)



The huntress fires an explosive-tipped arrow into one of the engines destroying it(the shutle can still fly with the other engine). Morse once again survives with a critically successful armor roll.



Until a grunt executes him.



The tower grunt misses a potshot.

ROUND 3 IMMORTALS 2 (mgb).




It takes all 3 Phalanx to kill the smartgunner.



The sniper climbs up and takes a shot.



Piercing damage means that the last 2 grunts go down.

ROUND 4 USA ALPHA AND BRAVO (Sporktimus)



The SpecOps takes out the sniper.





He takes cover by the officer, who has just failed at shooting down the fence.

ROUND 4 IMMORTALS 1(Scratch)



The Huntress LEAPS from the tower.



"Wtf?" says the officer as she draws the bowstring over his head.



She releases the bowstring, slicing off the officer's head and killing the last SpecOps, resulting in an IMMORTAL VICTORY!

EPILOUGE:







Commandant Steele: "Excellent work Huntress. By eliminataing the last of the resistance on Drex you have freed up this planet for the Empire to harvest its resources."

Huntress: "Isn't there something I was promised?"

Commandant Steele: "Of course. Provided there are no unpleasant surprises awaiting me you will be granted immortality."

Huntress: "Finally."

Off-screen neck: *Snap*

Commandant Steele: "What the..."



Commandant Steele: "Was this guys neck just snapped?"

Huntress: "Uh...nope."

Grunt: "Hey where is that super soldier's body?"

Commandant Steele and Huntress: "What Body?"

GGWP, had a great time playing in this one.

And with that, My first chat battle is finished. It was a well played game, and I thought both sides could have won. I had a ton of fun, and would hope to host another some day. I would like to send a special shoutout to Scratch, KommanderKen, mgb519, and Sir Sporktimus for being the best players I could ask for.

What I learned:

Phalanxes are crazy tough. A shielded squad is no joke to fight against, although I'm surprised the USA players didn't go for a flank.

Giving snipers range, a higher skill, and piercing damage may be a bit much.

Smartguns are just the right amount of powerful.
