Pretty good job. Keep this up, and maybe it'll be stickied for future generations.

So I recently made a breakdown/guide for some of our tank building members. My question to you the community is this; would you like me to publicize this guide here for all to benefit from?

So I recently sorted a bunch of my lego I had sitting in large unsorted bins for years right after I built a new MBT, so lots to come soon.

Re: Valiant's Tank Shop [Last Updated 2016/05/15]
Since all of you have been intrigued by how I have built my tanks, I decided to make a "guide" (more techniques than anything) on how to make good armoured vehicles.
The vehicle I will be breaking down for you lads and lasses today is the Champion 2 main battle tank.
Note #1: All of my MBT's employ direct-fire launchers as their primary armament. Therefore, they must have a store of physical ammunition.
The modularity of the turret displayed.
Note #2: All of my vehicles have a crew of 3-4 minifigs. With the Champion, she has a crew of 3, with the loader replaced by an automatic loader.
Nice and snug.
With modules.
Instead of resting on a turntable, my turret baskets rest on a 4x4 tiled surface on which they rotate.
The powerpack and its housing.
Protected by cage and steel armour, the engine can prove difficult to disable.
A snug fit.
Onto the chassis.
How the steep slope is achieved.
This is more or less the suspension that certain Lego tank builders (such as Aleksander Stein, Andrew Somers and I) utilise.
How its done.
In order for one to take advantage of the enourmous damage potential of a launcher, one usually requires sights and systems (such as an AC unit, fire-control system, fire-computer, etc) to give skill buffs to the crew. (I'm currently working on a rules supplement that will rework the way armoured combat is waged so that it's more enjoyable for both participating parties.)
If you participate in BrikWars battles on a regular basis, I would highly recommend adding active and passive protection systems to your vehicles (ERA, Cage Armour, Applique Armour, APS system). These can greatly increase the survivability of your vehicles. However, in order for gameplay balance, one would have to exchange some measure of mobility for these upgrades.
More cost effective methods are available. If you choose to utilise smoke grenades, you can use them to mask your vehicle's position and even withdraw to a safer location.
That's all! I hope this helps you in your development of armoured vehicles
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Prost,
Valiant

If you tried a breakdown of my builds you'd get a lego genius' messy desk equivalent hurrr genius me yuh of technic pins and random shit I fudged to get it to work. Makes me proud when I've got it to look presentable, but probably wouldn't be much good for a breakdown.
I like the organisation you've got in this build, although it looks a bit parts intensive having been used to scrounging as much as possible for shortcuts (and I think sometimes building with as limited resources as you can get away with is a nice challenge). I'm excited to see how your build techniques progress.

It's just not on the level of the other stickied armoury threads, but it has a lot of potential. Maybe one day it will be stickied.Vami IV wrote:Why is this not sticky'd?Silverdream wrote:Pretty good job. Keep this up, and maybe it'll be stickied for future generations.

Overhauled the initial post so it has links to my other armour threads, the pictures in this thread (so many comments!) and other material that can assist one in creating armoured vehicles.

Can you make designs for clunky tanks, like diesel punk? Those are the cooliest in my opinion.Valiant wrote:Overhauled the initial post so it has links to my other armour threads, the pictures in this thread (so many comments!) and other material that can assist one in creating armoured vehicles.

I really am running late here xDValiant wrote:Sure!

Better late than never though
Behold the Sabre light tank! Contrary to other vehicles ABS Systems has produced, this tank mounts a 5" gun instead of a direct-fire launcher.
Utilising a basic chassis in tandem with a composite armour turret, this light tank is capable of tackling most roles of the direct-fire support platform. Due to the relatively weak nature of the hull however, clients are advised to utilise hull-down tactics whenever one can.
Nice and cozy! The turret can fit a crew of three, with the driver in the forward hull.
If one has the CP to spare, one could choose to invest in some of the numerous add-on packages available. These include, but are not limited to: bazooka plates, TROPY APS, Fire-Control system, ERA, and many more!
Stat-card to come soon (and instructions if this build intrigues you)
Re: Valiant's Tank Shop [Last Updated 2016/07/22]
Personally I think that this looks really great! And I would love to see some instructions for it! But how sturdy is it when it's that small? Also another thing should the turret slope not be up rather than down? In a downward position any shells that hit it there would deflect downward into the hull rather than bouncing off the turret.

Re: Valiant's Tank Shop [Last Updated 2016/07/22]
It's actually quite sturdy; that's due to a basic yet reliable chassis.
Moves quite nicely along flat ground too
EDIT: However, I still wanted a nice turret, so I splurged on that
