First Period: Dark. The grand empire of Atlantis is an inkling of a thought, beset constantly by barbarians and dark age men. It is a time yet before it becomes... something grand.
Last Period: Light. Science is at it's peak as the Atlantians finally realize what it takes to leave the planet that's so far behind them behind itself, and finally does so.

Let's not involve the Elder Horrors in this one. Shoosh.

I find it hard to find the right balance somewhere between too specific and too vague. Spacetravel? You sure? I don't want to go all Star Gate.

One definite NO! to Elder Horrors. (And maybe even magic in general?)

Erm. I actually have next to no idea about Star Gate stuff, I'm more talking Ascendence.

Story of Star Gate: Ages ago, the Atlanteans conquered space and placed Gates on earthlike planets for instant transportation. They even traveled to a different Galaxy in a huge space ship called Atlantis. Then they vanished: Transcended to a higher plane of existence. Practically became gods and decided not to meddle in the affairs of lesser beings any more.
Later the parasitic race of the Gua'uld learns that humans are the perfect hosts. Using advanced technology they conquer earth, enslave humanity and are worshiped as Gods, namely the Egyptian ones, but also in other early high cultures around the globe. The pyramides are landing bases for their giant space ships.
I can't remember the reason why they left earth nearly 10.000 years ago, but they took human slaves with them through the Gates and so colonies throughout the galaxy came into being.

I don't want to replay that storyline. Also I don't think it is a good idea to declare where they vanished to in this early stage of our game. Or maybe I'm just overthinking again. :-/

I don't like saying where they did vanish to, but saying where they DIDN'T go is alright by me.

I say no to space travel or eldritch horrors - yes to the dissapearance being incredibly fucking mysterious. I'm almost down to send them directly to friggin heaven.

Strictly speaking we are still in the process to define our Bookends. The Palette of Yes and No is the next step. Thus in the captions of the Bookends there should be nothing that restricts our Palette.

If noone is vehemently against it I will set it to

First Period: The founding of Atlantis.
Last Period: Atlantis vanishes from history

We can fit in everthing else later: The wars, the barbarians, the scientific breakthrough and the disappearence.

Ok, now the time has come to set the Palette. Two YESes and two NOes per player.

YES
magic-like science
Internal Conflict, maybe even resulting in civil war

NO
Space travel
"Real" magic

Please post your choices now.
