lawmaster - 12

Epilogue:

Image

The former Falx lords gather and reminisce over the battle:

Pizzaro: 'That was a close one! We barely managed to hold them back.'
Isabella: 'Indeed, we lost far too many in the process, even Gallikronn. The old man will be devastated; they were very good friends from what I understood.'

Image

Isabella: 'Regardless, we need to secure this place and gather the fallen. You two, report to the nearest outpost immediately and request a small task force to hold the area! We will stay here and guard in the meanwhile.'
Crossbowman: 'As you command mylady!'

Image

Pizzaro: 'You seem a little paranoid. Do you think this was but a bait from Torquemada?'
Isabella: 'I wouldn't be surprised; after all he conquered 19 realms before! He knows nearly every tactic in the book.'
Pizzaro: 'Aye. Reminds me of the siege of Atraxis: slowly whittling down opposition, before crushing them in one fell swoop. Nonetheless, he lost a valuable asset with that crazed drake blowing itself up!'
Isabella: 'I'm not sure if that wasn't intentional as well. Having a powerful ally like Aetheros also bears the danger of suddenly facing a very powerful enemy in a turnover. I can't help but think this was a win-win scenario for that scum.'

Image

As they contemplate, a deathgate emerges.

Isabella: 'Oh great.'

Image

Shrouded figure: 'Greetings lady Isabella, lord Pizzaro! Judging by the carnage, you did quite a splendid job once again!'

Image

The stranger in black gazes over the remains of Aetheros. He seems really impressed.

Shrouded figure: 'A splendid job indeed! Did the Jarl make it?'

Image

Isabella: 'I'm afraid not. What are you doing here? Adding another dead drake or two to the collection?'
Shrouded figure: 'Oh I daren't tamper with such a twisted monster, be it dead or alive! I came to see the outcome of the battle, and to invite you to discuss certain pressing matters regarding the invasion. Will you joing me through the gate? I'm afraid the Imperials wouldn't be keen on negotiations. It shouldn't take long!'
Pizzaro: 'This seems a little dodgy, why should we trust you?'
Shrouded figure: 'I think the real question is why shouldn't you trust me. As you could tell I mean no harm to you and am more than willing to ally against the Falx menace, pardon the expression.
Isabella: 'Fine. But even if we were to join you, what's the guarantee this place won't get overrun by another Falx contigent in our absence?'

Image

Shrouded figure: 'You! *aiming at the cultist* You shall stay here and keep an eye out while we're away. Contact me if you notice anything suspicious, we can return and face it immediately.'
Cultist: 'But of course master!'
Shrouded figure: 'There, you couldn't say I didn't prepare for anything. Now will you join me?'

Image

Isabella: 'I have a bad feeling about this, but logically speaking, any aid for Mondaine could end up useful, don't you think?'
Pizzaro: 'Can't say I disagree! Let's get over it quick though, we're risking what little good rep we have with the Empire by doing so.'

That wraps up 'A Clash of Warlords'. As always, thank you so much for playing, and stay tuned for a followup!

That was an excellent battle, I enjoyed playing as the drake, even if it ended too quickly, but then I guess Aetheros at least kinda got his revenge. And he got to cause a decent amount of carnage.

That shrouded stranger is beginning to piss me off though. Minifigs should partake in battles, not watch from afar

Awesome battle, as usual. I look forward to see what the Falx will be planning next.
