Round 1

Rangers - Brikguy

Image

"Now where did I put it?" Mudi murmurs, rummaging through his bag.

Image

"There it be!"

Image

A small dwarven mech is added to the ranks, giving the rangers some much needed melee power. It's a slow-moving size two creation with relatively solid armour, armed with a hammer (large weapon) and a Roeispaan of Death (elite heavy weapon).

Image

The rangers then form up and prepare to unleash hell. Those that are in range fire at Inferno.

Image

A ghoul is compelled to redshirt, taking off just enough of the damage to let Inferno survive unharmed.

Dragon Knights - Alex

Image

Brockram takes the main body of the battle group and forms them into a shield wall.

Image

Sir Garth and the longswordsmen hurry up the cliff, crossbowmen close behind them.

Image

Two open fire, the others haven't finished climbing.

Image

The heavy swordsmen block the incoming arrows.

Chicken Man - Colette

Image

The chicken man hops onto the wall.

Image

"CAW CAW! CAW CAW CAW CAW!"

Image

Unfortunately (for the chicken man), he rolls a '1' and falls down and no one really understands what he was trying to do. He's still alive though.

Woad Elves - Scratch

Image

The amazons get into position.

Image

Hunters follow suit.

Image

Landor leads his warbands to the bridge. But he has more planned...

Image

"Creatures of this wood! You were here long before Phineus' hordes even existed! Come and scour this undead blight from our world!"

Image

A great whooshing sound is heard, and a mighty eagle-like beast descends on one of the trees, supporting itself with surprising grace for such a large creature.

Kamos the Skylord: "'OUR WORLD?' WHO ARE YOU TO GIVE ME ORDERS? ARE YOU NOT AS TRIVIAL AND INSIGNIFICANT AS THESE UNDEAD YOURSELF? AT LEAST THEY HAVE NO ILLUSIONS ABOUT CONTROLLING ME. I SHALL DRAG YOU BACK TO MY LAIR AND FEAST ON YOUR LIVER EVERY NIGHT FOR ALL ETERNITY TO MAKE YOU PAY FOR YOUR INSOLENCE!"

The feat failed horribly, and Kamos (Size 3 creature with 1d6 relative skill, beak (large weapon) and talons (heavy weapons), a tough hide and control over lightning and wind magic) is now out to kill Landor.

Image

Landor: "Oh bugger."

Nimoë - Silverdream

Image

The skeletons start swarming down, while Nimoë and her dark elves settle in the small fortification.

Image

The undead army advances further across the walkway.

Image

Nimoë: "You humans should have remained where you came from."

Image

"Eat this!"

Image

Nimoë's fire-based attack shreds a light ranger.

Crimson Knights - Battlegrinder

Image

The Crimson Knights spread out, one group to each side.

Image

Inferno - Zahru II

Image

The ghouls rush forward, reaction fire taking two of them down.

Image

The rangers draw knives and defend themselves, but the ghouls that are close enough gang up on them, killing two.

Image

The fire wraiths move in. Those that can provide support fire with their head gems, but the rangers get lucky for now.

Image

"Not like that. I shall see something BURN!"

Image

Inferno's fire magic sets the tree behind the rangers on fire.

Image

It crashes down, crushing and burning the ranger that was unfortunate enough to be standing there.

Ah, the Prometheus gambit. I like this guy, he appreciates the classics, and he hates elves.

Is Kamos's control over lightning and wind heroic feat based or SP dice based?
Oh, and I'm guessing the elves will move before Kamos, correct?

By now I'm content with anything that's not a completely horrendous failure on my part.

Turn order is decided randomly for this battle, so maybe, maybe not. It's feat and skill-based. Units who can cast spells can use both their skill and feat to do so. Non-heroic units with magic abilities use their skill for it all the time anyway. Skill-based spells are usually a little 'safer' since you can ask for relatively simple spells which will then have a low UR, but I will quickly raise the UR for bigger spells, whereas with a feat it doesn't matter if the spell you asked for has a high UR as long as the feat is successful. Both may still vary in size and effect depending on how successful your rolls are but generally feats have the bigger chance of becoming really powerful. Higher risks = higher rewards.

If Kamos seemed to be referencing something, it was completely unintentional, btw (this seems to be happening to me a lot lately).

I want to call bullshit on this, just because it's so bizarrely specific to Prometheus. Maybe it was something that lurked in your subconscious.
Wikipedia wrote:Zeus, king of the Olympian gods, sentenced the Titan to eternal torment for his transgression. The immortal Prometheus was bound to a rock, where each day an eagle, the emblem of Zeus, was sent to feed on his liver, which would then grow back to be eaten again the next day.
This sig is too fucking large: show anyway

Derp. :wtf: My brain must have been taking a break, because I was thinking you guys were talking about references to the movie Prometheus. Yes, the mythological reference was on purpose. I've been teaching some mythology to people last week so it's still in my mind. Our feathery friend's first name is also a reference.

@ Battlegrinder: canonically the Woad Elves are only half-elves, but more on that later.
