Enemy at the Gates - Round 1

* Bull garrison *

Image

Angrix: "Crush these weak dead!"

The Bulls didn't need anything more than their commander expressing himself in his typical style to show stronger resolve. The gate was opened in order to let Dweller reinforcements enter the castle.

Image

The phalanx crouched behind the walls to get to better cover. The crossbowmen lined up and took aim.

Image

Image

The crossbowmen guarding the north gate also began to move to be able to fire at the undead.

Image

Pretty much everyone moved into cover.

Image

A cannon shredded the wheel of the cart of wails, the other struck near the other wheel, but not near enough.

Image

The skeleton on the cart was headshotted by one of the two crossbowmen on the highest levels.

* Dweller garrison *

Image

They all got up off their feet and started moving towards the castle. Half of them moved to defend the carriage ballistas.

* Royal residents *

Image

The Paladin and the Bloodguard moved over to the gate. The enemy wouldn't get inside without paying a heavy toll for it.

Image

The knights picked some heavier gear from the weapon racks.

* Phineus' horde *

Image

Phineus wanted to weave a spell to defend his army from ranged assaults, but failed. What's up with necromancers lately?

Image

The undead army then moved forward despite the lack of cover. Crossbow bolts fell in between the warriors but failed to kill: they mostly just managed to chip small bits of bone off. One bitchy witch managed to increase the move of the skeleton warriors in front of her.

Image

The giant had other plans; he picked up the undead crocodiles with wicked intentions.

Image

... and tried to throw them onto the wall, but failed his range roll. Luckily for the crocodiles the fall didn't kill them.

Then, a disturbing call sounded from the walls.

"ALARM! WRAITHS COMING FROM THE WEST!"

Secret faction activated Wraiths

Image

And indeed, a disturbingly high number of wraiths had appeared, which explained Phineus' lack of more powerful undead.

They must have crossed the border at Starkeep and approached the castle from there. Why wasn't I informed of this? General Angrix thought as word of it reached him.

Image

The greater deal of the wraiths started moving out towards the Dwellers.

Image

Undead starcapes fired on the Bull phalanx on the wall, but failed to kill.

Image

The necromancess then let her dragon hop onto the wall and breathe fire as the shadows also leaped onto the wall, the leader confronting the nearby phalanx immediately...

Image

The gunpowder barrel exploded but the gunner miraculously survived. The other Bull was less fortunate: the shadow's blade sliced right through his shield and incinerated him on the spot.

What the heck, I'll take a secret faction.

Good luck on exams btw, I fortunately only have one, on the first day. Hooray for my extra week of summer! :D

PMS, perhaps.

Too bad that croc-trick didn't go as planned.

I'll try to get round 2 up friday. Any factions I won't get orders for will basically just be played out by me 'cos I can't be bothered to send everyone PM's.

Why is one of the imperials wearing an anachronistic hat?
