Polish Super Tank Destroyer "Król Sobieski"

Post by Duerer » Mon Oct 27, 2014 2:43 pm

Location: Królewiec, Confederate terrotory under 45th Union separatist occupation
Mission: Field Test

Image
Some separtist forces just got away with stealing some Polish equipment in order to further expand their arsenal...

Image
But suddenly a big wide tank appears...

Image
... reducing everything into scrap metal and minced meat.

Ladies and Gentleman, may I present you:
The Super Tank Destroyer "Król Sobieski"
Image
This beast is armed to the teeth and has even thicker armor than most smaller spaceships, making it more of a driving bunker, rather than a tank.

Image
Although many weapons have been built in that thing, it's most advanced and devastating one is a tri-barreled super laser cannon. It may either shoot each barrel, separately or combine their energy into one single annihilating beam.

Image
Image
On top of that, this tank offers enough space for 5 passengers.

Total armament:
3x Super Laser Barrels (Size 6)
2x AA Machine Guns (Size 3)
2x Side Cannons (Size 3)
4x Machine Guns (Size 2)

Yup, this is pretty boss. I think I like the turret offset the most. Good job!

The shape of the tank looks very futuristic, with those completely covered wheels/tracks - may I ask what "Krol Sobieski" means, google translate just gives "Sobieski king". You've also managed to fill a gaping hole in the brikwars canon by creating an STD as opposed to a SDT, whilst they are similar, not having to make a "typo" for once makes all the difference.

EDIT: Unless someone were to make a word buttplug, what are the chances of that...

EDIT 2.0: Duerer explained to me the relevance of "Sobieski", I obviously don't pay enough attention to vami's posts.

It's okay. Nobody else does.

On top of this being an amazing build, I actually really dig that the tri-barreled laser is literally just three giant fucking size 6 lasers welded together. For the big shot, do you just roll once with the same UR for a hit-or-miss 18d6 damage? It's amazing how surprisingly well-balanced that sounds.

That's a very interesting take on the STD concept to be sure! The general shape and the main and side turrets seem really well done! Although the four smaller weapons on the corners feel a little.. forced? I feel like overall build quality could definitely be improved by either removing them or somehow integrating them more into your design. Would you agree?

I think that would depend on if your opponent allows it. By the rules, you'd have to roll three times for each gun, since otherwise you're sneaking in a size 18 gun that has the use rating (and target profile) of a size 6 one.

Oh yeah, I definitely understand that, but I think the trade-off of being able to miss a shot like that is more than enough - personally I would fire all three separately at a single target every time if I could, for the higher chance of doing at least SOME damage instead of gambling for :all:

The combined power limit also means that the vehicle has to spend pretty much every inch it has on firing them.

This is so great! Love how it's hugging the ground with that super low-profile, although I'd like to see a tiny bit more of space between the tri-laser cannon and the hull.

Awesome to see this thing completed, Duerer. Nice work.

This is one STD I'd be happy to catch! :warhead:

Great work, the Asymmetry works really well.

The Tank looks super cool and very futuristic! Great job.

Edit: The tank has only one drawback which is:

Total armament:
3x Super Laser Barrels (Size 6)
2x AA Machine Guns (Size 3)
2x Side Cannons (Size 3)
4x Machine Guns (Size 2)

The total size of the weapons is: 18+6+6+8=38
but the tanks size is 12-13 so it can fire only up to 26 total size weapons.

Divert all power to weapons, it's unable to be moved, but it can shoot everything.
Only problem with silver bullets is the price of silver.
