[HPH17] Nebelwerfer

So maybe it's just the WWII nerd in me, but as soon as Lego came out with the six-shooter stud-shooter piece I just knew it looked familiar. Sure enough, take a look at this, https://www.google.com/search?q=nebelwe ... 66&bih=659. Looks pretty damn similar right? Well as soon as I saw it I just knew that I had to build a Nebelwerfer for the Space Nazis, but procrastination and life got in the way and I never got around to it until finally the HPH17 contest gave me the motivation to get off my ass and build something. So without further ado, here is my Nebelwerfer, it werfs nebels.


For those who don't know their WWII artillery pieces (losers, lol), the Nebelwerfer (translates to "Smoke Mortar") was a WWII German artillery piece primarily designed to launch cannisters of either smoke or poisonous gas, although high-explosive shells were also used.


Side view, I kept the shooting mechanism intact, although turning it now causes the gun to shoot its own barrels off.


Back view, I'm rather proud of how nicely shaped the rear end is.


Top view, I tried to keep it nice and compact.


Front view, I wish Lego wouldn't insist on making interior build pieces bright fucking yellow, it makes it look like a toy.


Another view, a silent sentinel standing guard eternal.

I would have rated this higher, but although it may *pop* function-wise, it doesn't *pop* visually. I think if you remade the carriage to be more spindly, that may help, such as the split-tail design that the Nebelwerfer 41 had historically.

I'm also a war nut, so I enjoyed the little history lessen on it. Noice pics. But it does miss the twin tail and the raised firing neck. Kewl!
