BU Getrüde super rail gun device

Post by Brickviller » Sun Nov 06, 2011 8:45 am

Okay I've not been active for months for some reason (I have a lot of stuff to do currently) so my apologies about that. I'll probaly be not much active here, since Im in another similar but small group somewhere else, and I have a lot of stuff to do. Anyway since I'm an attention w*ore I post this creation here too

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320586851m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>

The Gertrüde device is the Unions latest super weapon. It is a super heavy self propelled artillery, and is currently the largest and heaviest land vehicle in the Union, if not in the entire world. The devide can fire various ammunition types, with the largest one being 450MM. The vehicle is mostly accompanied by a dozen AA vehicles, tanks and munition trucks to supply this monster with enough shells. The range of the weapon is estimated to be around 20-40 KM.

Development history
The Union started the development of the device around October 2025. The ministry of armament stated that they wanted to have a super heavy artillery based on the Ogre chassis and being able to fire shells as large as 400MM. To accomodate such a weapon a erected hull of the Ogre was build and modified to accomodate the demands.
<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584571m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="311" alt=""></a>
Here showing the only pic of the first version. Note the extremely long gun.

After testing the vehicle the ministry said it would be better to let it use a rail gun, because of the benefits these weapons heave over conventional ones. The Chairman also agreed that such a weapon would require a railgun. Designers made a larger stripped down version of the rail gun used by the Ogre, and added three fins to obsorb the heat created when firing.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584688m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
The back of the vehicle, showing the two cranes, and the loading mechanism.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584703m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Side view, note that this version still uses old style small wheels. While most new styled vehicles in the Union use larger overlapping wheels.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584727m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Front,

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584742m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Another shot of the back, not the engine hatch. More on that later.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584752m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
The new 20MM automatic sentry gun is currently in mass production to replace all other sentry guns used on tanks, IFV's or these kind of vehicles. The prototype had a human gunner sticking out of the hatch. With this new sentry turret such thing isn't needed anymore, even tough it needs to be controlled safely from the inside of the vehicle.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584771m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
When deploying these two stabilizers are folded out, to absorb some of the impact caused by the blast when firing.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584782m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Also to get on the vehicle we have this small ladder, this can be folded up when driving, so now one can sneak onto it easily.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584798m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
After all this the gun is aimed.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584813m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
the cranes lift the heavy shells and place it in the loading tray. It can fire faster since we use two cranes, instead of one to place shells. The cranes are located on the right and left side of the vehicle.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584825m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Here we have the entrance to the inner vehicle.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584841m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
When removing the roof we have this spacious compartment where the crew controls everything on this moster. Note the coffee dispenser

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584855m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Another shot, in the corner you can also see a fire extinguisher.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584870m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Also the gun itself can be removed so we all can see the massive engine that propels this monster.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584883m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
The engine hatch openend so the engine can be taken out easily.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584898m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
The engine, very similar to all engines used in the Unions armoured vehicles.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584908m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
The gun itself.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584917m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Here you still can see traces of the original normal gun.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584931m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Another one with the gun lowered.

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320584945m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
Shell tray

<a href="/image_zoom.php?id=/user_images/30699/1320586288m"><img src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/ ... SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="375" alt=""></a>
And ofcourse none of my creations is complete with some good old propaganda.

The name of the vehicle comes from my mother, since she was one of the person who helped to a really depressic stage of my life.

Thanks for watching

Bloody hell. I've said it before, but seeing this type of tanks makes me happy to have a Gekka on my side that could actually avoid that firepower :? (it's almost finished!) I like how the gun looks like a giant dinosaur's head.

Holy crap, that is incredible. The detail on the gun is just plain awesome, and I think the chassis is squarely in STD range.

This tank is beautiful, modular, and contains excellent greebles. All Hail.

Also @Brickviller, We never really asked if you wanted to be a part of the Third alliance but we all assumed Brickville would be a member.

nah I'm fine with it, I'll try to be a little more active here, but I'm currently having my first fulltime job so that takes away much free-time. But with the money I can also buy some parts for new vehicles

This is INCREDIBLY AWESOME. Yeah. Everything about it is good. Normally I don't like those bent technic beam things but even they are okay on this thing. Excellent work. I normally like to add constructive criticism but here I have nothing to criticize. 100% PWN This is the best MOC I have seen on the BrikWars forum all year.
