Despite the typo I think you're getting the wrong idea about how or why I'm watching anime. I've been watching anime in a downward spiral of quality recently, where I watched Trigun and had a great time with it. That's when I decided "hey, let's go back and rewatch Bebop, you haven't seen that since you broke your legs!" That was fantastic as well, so then I decided to go grab my list of anime that I loved as a kid and am re-watching them as an adult to see what about them is still cool and what's lame. Since then I've watched through Outlaw Star and I'm starting up Gundam Wing again.

I agree that both of these shows are actually pretty terrible. I may be watching them through a nostalgic lens, but I'm also having a great time seeing just how terrible the dialogue actually was in that crap. I'm taking baby steps, and I'll get around to Evangellion and Samurai Champloo eventually.

Despite the very low expectations I had for second seasons of anime in general, thanks to the implosion that was Code Geass R2, Railgun S2 actually...improved over the first season? The plot picked up, the drama had gravitas, Misaka was picking on people her own size (Meltdowner was awesome and Accelerator was in a league of his own, both in ability and that nonchalant evil characterization), and they toned down the god-awful Shirai lesbian antics that weighed down the first season.

Also, finally a decent science girl in this series.


Overall, I'd still have to say A Certain Scientific Railgun is technically the worst anime I've completely watched so far (compared to Evangelion, Code Geass, and Madoka), but it's only slightly below Code Geass compared to where it was after season 1. It's dumb with strong hints of anti-intellectualism and lacks deeper meaning, but it was very entertaining and Misaka and company kept me engaged throughout 47 episodes (subtracting the swimsuit episode) worth of my time, which is all that really matters in the end. It didn't strive to be anything more than a good animated TV show, and I guess it did its job.

It seems like everyone in this show is an idiot. I really liked the first one, and I'm assuming that this was just a bad episode, but yeah.

Watanabe dubs are always worth watching though. If the Michiko to Hatchin dub is anything like Samurai Champloo or Cowboy Bebop, I myself might watch it.
