A kernel of truth hidden in a giant shitpost. I think. Maybe. The only actual true thing I see is that overv hasn't been on the forums very much recently, he actually has been mostly absent.

If I had to guess I'd say that we're gonna have this thread go on a few more posts then everyone is gonna kinda forget about it and move on and very little if anything will change.
Ask now what I'm doing, even for me :mystery:

So I'm at home helping my girlfriend with the dishes and reading this thread, and she's asking me why I'm so distracted. I tell her it's because there's a reply to this thread that's like twenty pages long. She asks why I'm even bothering to read it, and I tell her it's from Overwatch, and instantly she's all "Oh I want to read it too then!"

So first of all, when did she become an Overwatch fan? But second of all, she's more practical-minded about some of this stuff than I am, and so she has a kind of crucial technical question:
Overwatch_Elite wrote:so i havent stopped to check the time or anything and frankly im not sure why i bothered to write this much at all but there's still a moral in here so hang onto your boots and don't let go of your socks because im about to write some MORE shit (and im doing it for free too, ladies take note)
She would like some clarification: "So am I supposed to take a note at the same time I'm hanging on to my boots and socks? How am I supposed to write if my hands are full?"

There you have it everybody, Overwatch's entire argument defeated in one fatal blow.

Are you sure people weren't just telling you that your creations were shit, and that you sucked? Also, when did people get booty bothered over the Third Alliance?

Been asking myself the same thing, as I didn't really see that much rude comments during that period about other users or their creations.

Do I have to fucking spoon feed it to you fucking people???!!! You are supposed to take notes with your feet! You're supposed to be like that fucking inspirational guy in that one Daniel Day-Lewis movie that inspired Daniel Day-Lewis to lose a bunch of weight and sit in a wheelchair all day and paint fucking paintings with his feet!! Hike up your big boy pants, channel Shia Labeouf and JUST DO IT! :fist:

The great thing about the forums is, I as a newb, would have had no idea that this sort of conversation was going about in this thread if I hadn't just wandered into it. The forums are dense, and there is a lot going on everywhere and anywhere. Undeniably that is a big factor in gatekeeping.

BrikWars has a lot of satire written into it, and satire encourages mockery. To make a sacred hamburger you have to slaughter a sacred cow. When a joke gets stale, then it's time for new material. The status quo is always at best, suspect. To make BrikWars great -again-, you've got to establish it was great in the first place.

If you don't have the courage to cast your pearls before swine, then how can you ever expect one of your pearls to take root and grow into a beautiful oyster tree?

I feel like this guy gets it. Anyone who didn't read Overv's entire post is missing the whole point. Overv is a painter and his canvas is long, seemingly-nonsensical rants. This is why the original Bjork_bot's main function was to keep a collection of advice written by Overv to be dispensed randomly.

As usual Overv told me in Skype a few months ago "I bet if I stop posting for a few months people will still blame me for everything." He has a natural understanding of people and how they will react in certain situations and purposefully manipulates people into behaving in the way he wants. If you're in on the joke it's pretty funny.

Brikwars is, was and always will be great, it's the most fun wargame out there full stop (not that 'most fun wargame' is an achievement, but still). The forum on the other hand? There have been plenty of God Level battle reports posted on the forum, Death War, Zombie Zulu Dawn, and more (It is kind of hard to go back and remind myself which were the most awesome given that brickshelf seems to have died again, hilariously enough, I go to Brickshelf to check, and the first thing I see is Asterios). I am sure there are plenty of amazing battles posted nowadays if I bothered to look.

As for the toxicity, I don't remember the forum being so back in 2008/9, but then again I was a 13 year old shitler who was trying to be toxic myself back then, so I probably wouldn't of noticed.
