Hope you had someone there who could get you the cast member discount.dilanski wrote:Yesterday at Downtown Disney I got the new AT-AT (non automated) two of the large pick-a-brick tubs with trans-elements and starship parts, I got three minifigs, just for the spaceman shirts, the old x-wing (how old is that set, I can barely remember my star destroyer) and finally the snow-trooper battle pack.
Not a bad horde.
And yes, that was a nice haul.

!Problem!
My church youth group -shut up, mum's making me- is going on a retreat this month centered around "building your relationship with God". AKA with Lego.
They've been asking members for a month to donate old lego for the retreat. Old. Lego. A church of 500 people, with at least 50 members of youth, at least 200 people who possibly have OLD LEGO.
How do I successfully secure this jackpot, or at least a portion of it, mates?

That set was my first Lego Star Wars set. Got it for my, oh gosh, musta been 12th or 13th birthday. Oh memories.OneEye589 wrote:The old old X-Wing? Where did you get that? I remember getting that for Saturnalia back in the day. 2002 was the year it was released.
Also, @ Ross, just "appropriate" some of it at the end of camp, and tell them you're making sure that God's gifts (specifically, the LEGO) get used to their fullest.

Actually, the oldest one came in 1999 didn't it? It was the only grey version, I think every version afterward was white. The old old X-Wing? Where did you get that? I remember getting that for Saturnalia back in the day. 2002 was the year it was released.
That was one of my favourite sets, but it doesn't come close to the Rock Raiders Tunnet Transport.

Anyways, ask the group's leader if you can buy the donated legoes, with the proceeds going to the church. That way you're benefitting the church while getting more legoes. ^_^

If you can't somehow convince them you're Jesus, then you've got to do it mafia-style. Figure out what committee is in charge of receiving and cataloging the Lego donations, and then start skimming off the top. There are two things to try:Zahru II wrote:Crucify yourself.
6: Take less than half of the Lego, so enough is left over that no one realizes there's any missing.
7: Obtain a supply of mega bloks. Take more than half of the Lego, and replace it with mega bloks. Everyone will believe that the complete bullshit of mega bloks is really the Way and the Truth that is Lego, because by going to church they have been specially trained to respond that way to complete bullshit.
Yea, you're right. I just looked it up again. The other site was wrong.aoffan23 wrote:Actually, the oldest one came in 1999 didn't it? It's actually a great youth group, but I'm not exactly the one for church. I'm homeschooled, right? Mum just got me a chemistry book that was titled "Exploring Creation through Chemistry" because it was cheap and since it's chemistry, after all, it can't go through creation that much, can it?
I ended up arguing with the pages that told me that "water's exception of the molecular phase change rule is because God said so in order to create humans", "earth must have been created for humankind because we breath just the right compound of gases", and "god made plants to give us food from sunlight", and I'm not even halfway through yet.
Cause and effect, dammit!
But yeah, before we get booty bothered over religion- again- I'm planning on bringing some money to donate to get some of the bricks. They are going to donate the entire stash to someplace, not sure where.

Well it did get re-released in 2002, so you're not completely wrong. But it originally came out in the first wave of LSW.OneEye589 wrote:Yea, you're right. I just looked it up again.
