True enough. Just as with the Romans, they recruited soldiers from other regions they controlled, but the decisions were taken in England like the Roman Empire's decisions were taken in Rome, so for me calling them the English is plausible whereas calling them the Irish or the Scottish wouldn't be, just like you couldn't call the Romans Macedonians because they had a Macedonian legion
I know what Warhead's getting at though and of course our Irish and Scottish friends who served in the army deserve some recognition as well. They had their own divisions. That's what I mean by more units. Check out Warhead's Black Watch Grenadier Guard, for example, they're great
One note I have on this army is the soldiers might need bayonets or they will become really vulnerable in melee. Of course, bayonets would have to be some kind of custom design and I haven't seen too many yet

As used here I just think they don't look very good colour-wise and it's too big, like most things used for bayonets. Thus: all hail the hook!

I was messing around with some designs of my own today but couldn't come up with any real satisfactory ones.
Except maybe the one where I used the scythesword, but that one certainly won't work as an attempt at a historical replica.

There's plenty of colors available besides that silver: http://www.brickarms.com/Toys/Accessories/U-Clip.aspx
I think the black ones would probably work best for most purposes. But again, I haven't got any myself yet.

What, there re no official Lego bayonets? I thought i had one (can be briefly seen in my Rainbow Demon battle, the rifle is stored in a barrel and never used unfoertunately) but apparently it is not Lego. I suppose it is from Playmobil? I will try to get picture of it as i think it is good solution and looks quite "official".
If you're not into Metal you are not my friend!
