Reminds me of a 17 year old Police Cadet who's first name was Billy, he blurted into a conversation "What's a Western?" Needless to say we're still calling him Billy the Kid.

I wish I had YouTube to show you (Hint). Ok, there's an awesome scene in that film that I imagined to be the same as Natalyas first encounter with Lego where primate mankind first discovers how to use tools, and there is some amazing music playing in the background and the Monolith is just sitting nearby watching events.

Watch the film or read the book. The book is better and 2010 even more so.

It kinda does, I suppose, in the sense that it 'captivated' the apes, but it's still the Monolith.

Yeah, I've never really seen or read any of the classics, like some books that none of my teachers gave to the class to read (everyone but me has had to read The Giver for class, I swear). So yes, I admit I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to those references. It sucks.

But I do know she told me about a book like that.

@aoffan23: I bet you can text and all that other new age shit, and I bet a teacher never showed you how either. You can't wait for others to educate you, you have to do it yourself. Especially when it's good stuff.

Fair enough. Problem is, a lot of the good stuff, I've never heard of, which sucks because there's probably a shit-ton of classic stuff out there I'd love. I've actually been digging into older music that I love, I'm gonna try to do that with books, movies, etc.

I also hadn't read "Where the Wild Things Are" until this year, along with seeing most of the Disney classics I missed out on (which is a lot)
