It's another name for a Mini-Gun or Gatling Gun. Or so I always thought, however...

Did not know that, interesting.
Anyway, moving on.
Here's a picture of the chaingun mounted on the back of the Warthog set:

And here's a pic of one use for the chaingun barrels:

That's a gatling gun not a chain gun.

Ew, look at the base that the gatling gun is on in the first picture. That's why I hate Mega Bloks. They don't go on straight and they have that unsightly piece of plastic that's left over from the mold.

Tzan, read Warhead's article. You will be educated. I can say with certainty that it is a chain gun, because it is identified as such in every piece of literature (if you can call a Halo book "literature") that I have read thus far.

@OneEye: Oops, I actually missed that, lol. I'll shave it off with my exacto-knife later.

In other news, I stabbed myself in the thigh with my little brother's leatherman the other day. I'm awed by my own brilliance.

I did read it. Of course I had read that page back in '08 when this issue came up.

WikiThing:
"A chain gun has a single barrel while a Gatling gun has several rotating barrels. It is a common error to refer to Gatling guns as chain guns..."

Consider yore self educated :rtfm:

Of course I wouldn't be surprised if all the Halo books got it wrong because they like the name better.

I suppose it could be 3 chain guns stuck together that don't rotate.

Of course Halo books aren't literature!

I hate being educated
Fine then, gatling guns. Whatever you want to call it, it's a cool, triple-barreled piece of projectile weaponry.

Go look at ZD and find the one turn with the helicopter shooting down troopers from the backgun. That's a custom chaingun, and the reason I love lego over mega.

Warhead's battle. I agree with Ross, I've made a custom minigun and it kicks ass, if I do say so myself. :D

Yeah, the Halo books are okay. I've never actually played the video game, I just thought the sets looked cool.
My Warthog is pretty solid. Unless you're talking about the frontal hooks, those are just impossible to keep on.
