I had one instance of not receiving a part in a lego set, a few phone calls later, I got a free replacement part.

I have seriously never had any problems with lego apart from that.
Act first, then think, then try to find a way to cover up the horrible mess you made.

Once I got a sticker sheet where one of the stickers was not cut and I had to use scissors, and once I had a light element with a dud battery, Lego gave me a set of free key rings and 4 replacement parts :)
