(i was thinking since nico has those fancy crossbows, and the guy just got meadowcrown the sword plus a shroom-a-tov, i think we can launch a semi-sucessful attack against the orcs.)

Whilst your near go and get Yorricks mail bag (not the letters just the bag) this should provide more inventory space surely?
Then try and find the elf border guard, if he is nowhere to be seen go and persue orcs.

It's quite obvious that the orcs got in through the caves, so you sould go kill the dwarf.
