It belongs to the adventurers exploring the ruins. The Elves have decided to ignore them for the present moment.

I got feed up with trying to make decals for High Elf archers and I went back to what I know best and painted him by hand. The brown leather jerkin decal I made does look Ok though, but not on a High Elf!

I need to paint 3 more like him to complete the squad. I like painting, it's nice and relaxing.

Very good, only you should perhaps try giving them bigger eyes or limiting them to a dot like Warhead does with some of his customs because it can be hard to paint small eyes precisely.

Is it really necesary to paint the faces? I'd imagine most of Lego's beard-less faces would work fine for these guys.

Thanks for the feedback. This is an important lesson learned, - don't paint faces when you're tired and you can't find the super fine sable brush you normally use for faces.
If ever I want a face for an 'Invasion of the Annoyed Frogmen' senario then this will be it

I'm pleased with the body and legs though, - as a total hand-painting effort it turned out much better than I thought it would. With the faces I'd like to make them look not human, but fey, - so they can't be mistaken for normal human warriors. When I get the decal paper I've ordered I should do better with faces.

well I think that the ears will be enough of a clue as to the race of the minifig, i would suggest the ones without facial hair, as I've never heard of of an elf with a beard. so a head like this (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb396, obviously not the scared one)

I say leave him as is. Why?

6. One of the great elements of Brikwars is the irreverence and playfulness. This would add a non-serious element to the army.

7. Leave it as a fun “did you spot that" in the army. See how many people over time spot the glasses on the back row.

8. Uses your efforts and time on new elements of the army rather then oworry about this one guy and his glasses.

9. Because I like him. (ok not a great reason but what the heck

)

You're right, - I'm starting to like him too.

He can be a time travelling guy who is attempting to go under cover to study the Elves. There now, he's even got a backstory.

I tend to agree - like any painted mini, get enough of them together and they'll look fine. It's only in isolation that they look bad.

That being said, this guy will benefit from a finer brush or a less heavy paint application for the cheekbones and such. I think the eyes are just about perfect for getting the idea of non-human across. They're a little wide-set in the elvish fashion, but again, whenever you have a bunch of them lined up it'll be more clear that they're supposed to be that way.

What paints are you using on Lego? Standard acrylic? Are you having any problems with paint adhesion?
