"The images stand still for a moment, and then the ethereal Eldaric steps forward a step and mutters in the other Ross's ear.

"Ross then moves forward. 'An interesting question. I would ask the same of yourself. We came looking for the Maltroika.' He stares off past your shoulder vacantly for a split second, then shakes himself back into reality.

Maltroika? Ross thinks. What in Cod's mane is that? "I know of no such item," he says warily. "To be honest, we only come in search of treasure. Are you from... a future time?"

"The pair of shimmering humanoids share a glance. 'Trapped?' inquires Eldaric, who steps up next to Ross. 'We are by no means trapped. We are here of our own free will... as for the Maltroika, I doubt you know anything of it. It is a difficult thing to find, as it takes the form of whatever its possessor wants it to be. You may have seen it without even knowing it.' He pauses and stares off over your head for a brief moment. 'Why do you ask? Are you... trapped, as you say?' "

Well, the closest description to our predicament would be trapped, I suppose. we woke up here, with no notion of how we got here, and then were promptly set upon by several undead.

"The two snap to attention, eyes wide. 'Undead? Where? Did you dispatch them?' Eldaric sighs and turns to his partner. 'This situation keeps getting worse.' Ross's eyes glaze over momentarily, and then he focuses in on Eldaric. 'Nothing to be done but push onwards.' Eldaric nods slowly, staring at the alabaster floor."

You have not come across any undead in these pristine walls? we expected the whole sytem to be infested after our couple quick encounters.

'No undead yet, merely the servitors of the Archmagister. Most of them are harmless...' Eldaric looks past you into the room. 'Gods above, this place... dead? The room in which you're standing must be ages older than this one, possibly by several centuries... ' "

Ross blinks in anticipation of the answer. "Oh dear. Don't tell me that we've been trapped in these catacombs for ages."

it could have been rebuilt, while the original creator wanted to leave this part of the dungeon undisturbed- or rather- us undisturbed.

" 'I doubt-' A noise cuts Eldaric off from down the hall, and the pair before you turn around suddenly. The noise continues, a slow thudding sound that rattles your teeth slightly. Ross and Eldaric share a look, and then draw their weapons, charging off down the hallway.
